WASHINGTON (AP) -- In a Senate race that could have implications for the 2008 presidential contest, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton raised more than $6 million between April and June.
Campaign reports filed by Senate candidates Friday with the Federal Election Commission showed the former first lady, a New York Democrat, had $12.6 million cash on hand at the end of last month, even though she has no clear opponent yet.
Manhattan lawyer Edward Cox, a son-in-law of former President Nixon, has begun preparations to challenge Clinton, and Republican party officials also are courting Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro as a possible challenger.
Patti Solis Doyle, executive director of Friends of Hillary, said she expects "very well-funded opposition next year."
Clinton's first campaign for Senate in 2000 smashed fundraising records, as she and her Republican opponent, then-congressman Rick Lazio, together spending about $80 million.
A strong showing in next year's Senate race could give added momentum to Clinton's early frontrunner status among possible Democratic candidates in the 2008 presidential race. A bruising contest could slow her down.
Another closely watched Senate race is in Pennsylvania, where incumbent Republican Rick Santorum is facing a challenge from the son of a former governor.
Santorum raised $3.6 million in three months and reported $5.7 million cash on hand. His challenger, state treasurer Robert P. Casey Jr., reported raising $1.9 million between April and June, ending the period with $1.6 million cash on hand.v
n Florida, Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson raised about $2.2 million, ending June with $5 million cash on hand. He has raised more than $6 million in preparation for his 2006 campaign.
Rep. Katherine Harris, who plans to challenge Nelson for his Senate seat, reported raising more than $400,000 in the three-month period.
Harris, a Republican who as Florida's secretary of state played a central role in the 2000 presidential election recount, has raised about $860,000 so far this year, and ended June with $406,808 cash on hand.
Nebraska Democrat Ben Nelson has amassed $2.3 million for his expected re-election bid next year. He took in $867,000 from April through June, according to his FEC report, although he has not formally announced that he's running for a second Senate term.
That dwarfed the nearly $23,000 for Republican challenger Don Stenberg, who didn't enter the Senate race until late April. Republican candidate David Kramer announced his candidacy on June 28 and will not file a campaign finance report with the FEC until the end of September.
Shows you how many people want to invest into cattle futures.
Can the RNC use Bill Clinton not taking Bin Laden and enabling communist China with rocket and missile guidance technology against Hillary, or do their sins get to remain separate?
For heaven's sake, Clinton gave China the modern day ability to nuke all of our American cities and we are going to reward Hillary again with a Senate seat for that?
How much from China?
This guy is such a loser. Hang it up, Cox. Unless it's Rudy or Pataki, she wins by 20%.
This is ominous.
New Yorkers, get Jeanine Pirro to run and start running YESTERDAY!!!!
Hell, my first thought was that the Clintonistas must be off the Chicom's payroll if she's only raised $6 million.
Oh come on now...Republicans are just trying to remain "above it all"..you know that by now.
They wouldnt dare talk about file gate, china gate, white water, the clinton body count, etc....now would they?
There should be a long discussion in the press everywhere on all shows about how China got it's new rocket and guidance technology from the Clinton Gore administration.
You just have to get enough people interested to do their own investigations to verify the Clinton betrayals.

BTW, Jeanine was on Hannity & Colmes last night. Sean asked her whether she was going to challenge hillary.
Jeanine laughed, was coy, answered only that she was deciding now, and that she would definitely run for statewide office. Colmes tried to point her in the direction of AG.
Hannity said that the clintons obviously fear her, because their henchmen already have out the long knives (my metaphor).
Hannity then asked her where people should send donations.... If Beauty challenges the Hildabeast, tons of cash -- much of it out-of-state -- will pour nonstop into her coffers....

EXPENSIVE CHINA: the clinton legacy

Johnny Chung audio included above Mr. Chung has told us that the general told him the following: ''We really like your President. We hope he will be reelected. I will give you 300,000 U.S. dollars, and you can give it to your President and the Democrat party.'' Shortly after this Mr. Chung gave $35,000 to the DNC. Mr. Chung has told us that he was told other people were also giving money to ''do good things for China.'' One of the other people who was mentioned was Mark Middleton, a former high-level White House aide. He was told that Mark Middleton got a half a million dollars from a source that remains unclear. Mr. Middleton has taken the fifth with this committee. He has refused to talk to us. Johnny Chung has also told us that he was told that a Boeing representative from Hong Kong, a Mr. Young, was also working with the Chinese Government. We still haven't resolved who this is. Johnny Chung has informed us that he was told by another source that Charlie Trie asked the Chinese Government for $1 million to help the President. He'll testify that he saw the head of the United States consulate in Beijing take cash in exchange for visas. This is just outrageous. Did Mark Middleton get half a million dollars from the Chinese Government? If he did, what was it for? Did Charlie Trie try to get $1 million from the Chinese Government, and did he get it? We know that he got over $1 million from a Macau developer with close ties to China. JOHNNY CHUNG: FOREIGN CONNECTIONS, FOREIGN CONTRIBUTIONS HEARING
