$5,000 sounds like a low estimate for a Arisaka Type 99, especially if it still has the right markings (most were defaced after the war.)

I took a look over at Gunbroker.com and found a standard Ariska, but the markings have been defaced.

When I was young, my father bought me a Japanese bolt action rifle, I have no idea the model but it was a 7.7 caliber with a very unique windage and elevation system. It still had the "Rising Sun" and numbers intact.
I don't know the value of it but I do know it kicked like piss and a box of shells would break the piggy bank.
