When I was young, my father bought me a Japanese bolt action rifle, I have no idea the model but it was a 7.7 caliber with a very unique windage and elevation system. It still had the "Rising Sun" and numbers intact.
I don't know the value of it but I do know it kicked like piss and a box of shells would break the piggy bank.

More importantly than the rising sun, if any WWII Japanese weapon (sword or gun) has the chrysanthemum on it, it is extremely rare. After the war, MacArthur ordered all chrysanthemums ground off guns and swords to eliminate any symbol of the deity status of the emperor.

These buyback programs create a tidal wave of gun thefts and the dopers make $75.00 a pop! They can stay high for a day and the beauty is the cops are the buyers?!?
Plus this wreaks of socialism, or at least the prelude to the day they round up(or attempt to)the remaining firearms in the US.
