It doesn't look good for Karl Rove (John Dean of Nixon fame chimes in)
CNN ^ | 7-15-05 | John Dean

Posted on 07/15/2005 12:10:50 PM PDT by Indy Pendance

(FindLaw) -- As the scandal over the leak of CIA agent Valerie Plame's identity has continued to unfold, there is a renewed focus on Karl Rove -- the White House deputy chief of staff whom President Bush calls his political "architect."

Newsweek has reported that Matt Cooper, in an e-mail to his bureau chief at Time magazine, wrote that he had spoken "to Rove on double super-secret background for about two min[ute]s before he went on vacation ..." In that conversation, Rove gave Cooper "big warning" that Time should not "get too far out on Wilson."

Rove was referring, of course, to former Ambassador Joe Wilson's acknowledgment of his trip to Africa, where he discovered that Niger had not, in fact, provided uranium to Iraq that might be part of a weapons of mass destruction (WMD) program.

Cooper's email indicates that Rove told Cooper that Wilson's trip had not been authorized by CIA Director George Tenet or Vice President Dick Cheney; rather, Rove claimed, "it was ... [W]ilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on [WMD] issues who authorized the trip." (Rove was wrong about the authorization.)

Only the special counsel, Patrick Fitzgerald, and his staff have all the facts on their investigation at this point, but there is increasing evidence that Rove (and others) may have violated one or more federal laws. At this time, it would be speculation to predict whether indictments will be forthcoming.

one the things it says is that Karl spells his name with a "K" just like the klan.

Childish indeed. So by the same token--Kennedy and Kerry also spell their name with a "K", just like the Klan.

And did Karl telepathically transmit to his parents while he was in the womb that he wanted his name with a K instead of a C? He didn't pick his name nor how it would be spelled. These people are silly.

If Rove's leak fails to fall under the statute that was used to prosecute Randel, I do not understand why.

Try this:

Jonathan Randel, a DEA intelligence analyst, leaked the classified information that Lord Michael Ashcroft, a conservative Brit, was in the DEA files. Randel's leak was intended to publicly smear Lord Ashcroft – to falsely imply that Ashcroft was a money launderer under investigation by the DEA.

Karl Rove is the senior advisor to Bush, not a CIA employee. His knowledge of Valerie Wilson’s employment by the CIA was from reporter hearsay, not from classified government documents. Was it illegal for Rove to discuss Valerie Wilson's employer? Of course not. In D.C., everyone knows someone who works for the CIA, and that information routinely comes up in conversations. Since the “outing a covert CIA agent” allegation has now been discredited by Joe Wilson himself, and since “outing a CIA employee” is commonplace and legal, what is left to prosecute? Oh yes, the revelation of the story behind Joe Wilson’s hiring, one false version of which Wilson himself spread all over the media. So, for Wilson to reveal that he was hired by Dick Cheney was legal, but for Rove to reveal that Wilson was not hired by Dick Cheney was illegal?

Try again, John Dean. Oh yes, and when is that lawsuit against Gordon Liddy coming up?

John Dean is the most vile piece of human scum ever to pop out of a womb.

He's got less intelligence that bacteria on a flea biting a dog's butt.

John Dean must have missed the newswires this morning that revealed Rove confirmed the story for reporters, that he never found out about Plame, it was the press who brought it to his attention. Confirming a news story is NOT a crime. I hazard now in this wake of all this, that it doesn't look good for the MSM and the Democrats who rushed to judgment. Their hatred of Rove and Bush was greater than their respect for the truth. Now they look like total asses.

Hey Dean? Did your callgirl-turned-wife Mo Dean stop charging you after you got married?

Or did she just hit you with a nuisance tax?

G. Gordon Liddy has made a second career out of kicking John Dean's ass.

Looks good on ya, ya f--kin weasel.

Let's see...wasn't it last month that Tom DeLay was practically out the door? Of course, when they found out that most Dems had taken more lobbyist money than Tom, the bottom fell out of that story. I have a feeling by this time next month, we won't remember what the Rove fuss was all about either. Dems are pathetic.

kausfiles.com and justoneminute.typepad.com have the most thoroughly researched and documented information on this matter.

The MSM and the moonbats (a distinction without a difference) are witless with frustration and rage that the ones who will be "hand-cuffed and frog-marched" into oblivion are their own buddies.

"I think John Dean was deepthroat.....I don't believe that other guy."

Hmmm - interesting idea. Considering that he reliably provides deep throat service to the MSM to this day.... As this article proves, he swallows everything they've got.
