"Ms. Miller learned about Valerie Plame from a confidential source or sources whose identity she continues to protect to this day. If the suggestion is that she is covering up for herself or some fictitious source, that is preposterous. Given that she is suffering in jail, it is also mean-spirited."

I don't see how she can be protecting herself - because then she would be entitled to 5th amendment protection. she cannot be forced to out herself. it must be someone else.

I'm so sick of the word "mean-spirited". It's trite and really meaningless now............

And it's not Karl Rove because he has already released all members of the press from any confidentiality agreements on this topic.

confidential source Mr. Wilson, perhaps?
To: kristinn
The Times gleefully traffics in character assassination from its news pages to its editorials and op-eds.
To accuse OTHERS of being "mean spirited" is farcical.

Is Miller protecting Wilson-Plame?
Why doesn't the NYTimes just reveal the source, they believe in the rule of law, don't they? The source is likely to be really bad for the leftist-MSM.

I don't understand why she is willing to going to jail over this.
All she has to do is "leak" the identity of the source to another reporter... who simply cites "an anonymous source" and the whole thing is out in the open.
To: kristinn
If the suggestion is that she is covering up for herself or some fictitious source, that is preposterous.Prove it, Rove issued a waver to clear anyone he talked too.

If the suggestion is that she is covering up for herself or some fictitious source, that is preposterous. In light of a) Jayson Blair, and b) the complete absence of facts suggesting otherwise, why is that "preposterous"?
