Here are the facts about this case: * Valerie Plame was an undercover CIA operative who worked in the field of WMD counter-proliferation.

"Was" being the key word... she stopped being covert/undercover in 1997. At the time of the Novak story, she had been a desk-jockey for 6 years.

* After her husband published an editorial in The New York Times critical of the Bush Administration, Valerie Plame's name and her CIA affiliation were leaked to a number of news sources.

Sort of. The use of the "after..." phrase is unnecessarily used here to imply causality. Strong indications are that the only person to "leak" Plame's name and her former undercover status was Wilson himself.

* Right-wing hack Bob Novak published a column outing Valerie Plame and effectively ending her career.

Well, "outing" her as a partisan hack who used her position to send her husband on a "mission" (with a pre-ordained result) designed to discredit the administration for purely political reasons. It was no secret that Plame worked for the CIA, and Novak never mentioned her former covert role.

* One of those who received the leak about Valerie Plame’s identity was Matt Cooper – his source: Karl Rove.

Patently false. Cooper's own notes indicate that Rove mentioned that "Wilson's wife" worked for the CIA. He never mentioned Plame's name nor her former covert status.

* By exposing her identity, Rove destroyed a valuable asset in the war on terror. But even worse than that, he potentially exposed and endangered a network of intelligence assets throughout the world that Plame had built painstakingly over an entire career.

Patently false. This presumes that earlier false statements are true.

* We will never know just how much damage Rove did, nor how many lives he ruined.

The only lives Rove is ruining are those of Democrat politicians.

Does anyone have the pic of that crying dope holding the sign against Bush? I think it should be held ready for when this story dies.

Do you think all 16 of their listeners will buy a t-shirt?

I signed the petition as Fetid Birkinstock and told President Bush I am behind him all the way but I could find the petition to read the names.

LOL!!!

I went to their petition page and sent a note of support to the White House under the name of Liberals Suck.

Their big banner ad proudly complains "On 65 Stations Nationwide!" Of course, that's 64 stations too many (got to keep one around to keep our eyes on them) but how many stations does Rush have? 10x that many????

LOLOLOLOL!!!

By exposing her identity, Rove destroyed a valuable asset in the war on terror.

I thought the proper liberal ("progressive") phrase is "the so-called war on terror."

P.S.: Please visit the Air America store for no fewer than eight varieties of "Fire Rove" apparel - and dozens of other Air America items! Remember: every time you buy Air America gear, you help make America's progressive radio network stronger.

How soon until the boxes of unsold shirts arrive at the local Salvation Army store?

Could minor Ambassador Joe Wilson himself have been the source in blowing his own Wife's cover?

It is distinctly possible, (though it may be unlikely that Joe Wilson himself directly was NY Times Judith Miller's source), since Joe Wilson himself evidently routinely bragged openly to strangers about her CIA employment, prior to such "cover" being "blown" in the press.

Here's an example of Joe's apparently routine and open bragging about Valerie being a "CIA agent," which became known directly to me over a year ago:

He certainly bragged about it per a famous and highly reliable source's (named below) account of his own face-to-face encounter with Amb. Joe Wilson prior to Valerie Plame's "outing" as a CIA agent/employee.

Based upon a personal conversation (we were in a small group eating; it was NOT an "off the record") I had with eminent historian Victor Davis Hanson (we were at a luncheon table together during a trip to Europe), it appeared entirely possible that Joe Wilson himself was the (or one source, if not the original one) possible source in revealing his own wife's status as a CIA agent or employee.

Victor Davis Hanson (Wilson presumably knew Victor Davis Hanson wrote regularly for NRO (National Review Online), had done OpEds for the Wall street Journal, and other publications, and had his own Website with a widespread following) said he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were both in the same "Green Room" before a televised debate-discussion on Iraq, etc. and Joe first warned the TV make-up person not to get powder on his $14,000 Rolex watch, then he bragged to Victor about several things (possessions and trips to Aspen, etc.), like his expensive car (I think it was a Mercedes), and then bragged about his beautiful ("hot") wife who, Joe Wilson said (braggingly) was a CIA operative.

I asked Victor Davis Hanson Why he didn't write up this account.(?) He replied that Joe Wilson would probably simply deny it, since only he (VDH) & Joe Wilson were in the Green Room together before the broadcast.

However, it is now easy to surmise that Joe Wilson is a crass, materialistic, self-promoting, vain, egotistical, bragaddocio-opportunist, so this account is perfectly consistent with Valerie Plame's TWO photo shoots in Vanity Fair. (Or was it Vogue? No, probably too crass for Vogue, n'est pas?)

I don't believe Rove's leak was a deliberate ploy. It apparently was a careless slip to a reporter. Nonetheless, he revealed the identity of a CIA agent, and he should be fired, seeing as he has access to sensitive information. However, you won't see me signing Err Amerika's crummy petition anytime soon, since they apparently believed the leak was deliberate.
