Powell, yes. BUT the facts do not change. It is not classified. Powell has not made any statements about it. So there are no contradictions for MSM to salivate for.

So Powell would be my guess if it is as said "non-partisan." If Powell is the source, MSM cannot accuse him of being Bush's attack dog. MSM cannot accuse him of purposely smearing the Wilson's for revenge.

Powell as the source would be great. It would be nothing more than setting the record straight.

More thoughts on Powell...

I have been saying all along the "news" breaking about this story and Rove's involvement has the distinct flavor of being very carefully manipulated and scripted to fit an agenda.

Consider this. If it is Powell, as I said earlier, so what? The facts do not change. Valerie Plame/Wilson/whatever was not covert, had not been covert for 5 years, and as the gentleman explained last night:

1. Was not working out of the country
2. Was driving to work everyday and parking at the Agency
3. The government was making NO effort to conceal her true identity

1, 2, & 3 specifically excluded her from being a covert operative.

IOW, a true non-story, let's move on.

Also consider Woodward warned MSM to back off and as I just heard, Lanny Davis agreed no law was broken. If said as presented, Rove did nothing wrong.

So what is the true story? MSM knew it was Powell and yet ignored that fact in an attempt to destroy Rove (and by proxy, the Bush administration). Not to worry.

Yet it backfired.

Maybe Cooper was telling the truth last week after all. He received a release in a dramtic fashion, but not from Rove. Instead, from Powell. The lawyer to lawyer thing may have been his lawyer tying up loose ends before going to the Grand Jury.

Of course, the part about his conversation with Rove broke, but Powell's (again, an IF situation) name did not leak either by design or no leak.

This could get more interesting than we ever imagined. And fun. Someone keeps asking for popcorn. I want to watch this with a pitcher of Marguarita's.

I'd read that Wilson himself attended a meeting at the CIA regarding the Niger trip. He was escorted to the meeting room by his wife where she introduced him to the group. I think that info came out during the hearings.

Since when has anyone or any agency been able to stop the MSM from printing something they know to be wrong? Rove even told Cooper not to go too far out on a limb with Wilson(hint, hint), but he ran with a story anyway. Needless to say, now we know that Novak already had Plames identity before HE contacted Rove. Rove, checkmate! Any "Special Prosecutor" that tries to obtain indictments, charges and convictions based on this information will become about as relevant as Marsha Clark after the OJ charade.
