And that source isn't likely from the WH. Otherwise (one would figure) Rove would already know the information.
Instead of using the headline "Rove Reportedly Held Phone Talk on C.I.A. Officer", the Times should have used "Rove not source of leak".
I agree. As far as Rove is concerned, this is over.

In that case, it's a classic (I've already made it my desktop).
Don't be too hard on the Times, it had to kill them to write this story. Since Novak's other source was "not a partisan gun slinger" I'm assuming it was the same thing: Novak asked the official. So the story is who was the original leak...looks like the media, which may explain Fitzgerald's frustration with them.

NYT just vindicated Rove. The spin they put on it is understandable. It had to kill them to do this.
By doing so, they have also exposed Wilson for the lyin' POS he is. Rove DID NOT leak this. Rove did not shop this story around.
Rove was contacted by 2 reporters.
I am cynical. What does the NYT know or what have they learned? Is Joe going down? Wilson had his flaming presser today with Chuckie trying to castrate Rove. And the story come out the same evening.
Just when the "Kill Rove" chorus are at their loudest, the Times vindicates him.
I did not see it, but it was posted that Brit Hume and Fred Barnes were of the opinion this story would take a major turn soon.

That's why it took so long for them to post it. With all of the posturing, interviews and press conferences on Thursday it sure looks like Wilson suckered the dems. Yes. He's going down...:-)

I have my suspicions, after reading kclv's earlier post, the word "non-partisan" starting bouncing in my head. I can't imagime my suspicions would be true, though or we would have one disappointed country on both sides of the aisle.
