NY TIMES CLAIMS EXCLUSIVE NEW DETAILS OF EVENTS SURROUNDING CIA LEAK, SOURCES TELL DRUDGE... DEVELOPING LATE OUT OF WASHINGTON... MORE...
His choice of words did not confirm. He merely said he "heard that too". He confirmed only hearing a rumor.
I don't think Tenet's talking had anything to do with that, or with his leaving. I think Tenet may have talked and that was it--he didn't tell anyone, he wasn't fired for it, he just did it. And he did nothing wrong.
While that is NOT TRUE, it is accurate and the MSM doesn't care about truth.....just the DESTRUCTION of ROVE and George Bush's presidency!!
This is much ado about NOTHING but with the MSM's devotion to the Democrat Party it will continue until no further blood letting is possible.
Well, this is the rub. Rove appears to be off the hook. But, as we already knew, Plame was well outside of the 5-year window. So all of this is Washington nonsense. And the SCOTUS nomination is going to kill this story once and for all (thank God).
Below is the exchange that the Libs are saying Bush said he would fire the leaker. The excerpt below is from Captain's Quarters (basically pointing out the questioner asked a compound question and interrupting Bush before he answered first question. it sounds picky, but Fox had video of the exchange and it was confusing.)
"Attempting to prove that Bush indeed made some sort of "firing pledge," he notes a press conference on June 10, 2004 in Savannah, GA, in which the following exchange occurred:
Q: Given -- given recent developments in the CIA leak case, particularly Vice President Cheney's discussions with the investigators, do you still stand by what you said several months ago, a suggestion that it might be difficult to identify anybody who leaked the agent's name?
THE PRESIDENT: That's up to --
Q: And, and, do you stand by your pledge to fire anyone found to have done so?
THE PRESIDENT: Yes. And that's up to the U.S. Attorney to find the facts.
The first point that leaps out at me is that the last sentence indicates that Bush's "yes" was in fact answering the first question -- whether it would be difficult to find the source -- not the second about some "pledge" that in fact cannot seem to be located. The referrant of the word "that" in Bush's response cannot possibly be the pledge, unless Bush is suggesting that Special Prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald should be trying to discover whether any such "firing promise" was made."

The Times is trying to leave the impression that Rove is still in "trouble", but their own story belies that implication. It's pure political spin. The Rove angle in this story is OVER.
And am I to conclude that Rove's crime was confirming what Novak had already heard? That's silly.
There was no "crime." Rove didn't confirm or leak ANYTHING; the Times' own story says he didn't. He only told Novak what he heard from other journalists - pure hearsay, nothing more. Rove didn't say it was true or false, just that he had heard it.
,,,but by the twitching of my nose... I have a hunch this is where the Sandy Berger archive thefts factor in...
So what's Novak up to? He can talk. Cooper will have his story out next week. What's he waiting for?
Tenant's the one who authorized this stupid probe. If he's the guy who told Bob then he basically called for an investigation into himself. Pretty f'n dumb, but then, he is a Democrat.
It would have been nice of NYT to point out that the statute in question is very narrowly written and Wilson himself now says his wife was not a clandestine officer at the time of Novak's column (actually since '94).
If Fitzgerald ends up turning this thing around the Democratic CIA/Media circle jerk that started this mess I will laugh my ass off and name my next dog Rover in Karl's honor.
lol. I hear this faint echo from the NY Times to Fitzgerald: "Come our way! Come'on... cut us some slack; we can make you into the next Warren!"
Sounds like Scott needs to go.
Woooooo what a scandal.
Ask America who Scott McClellan is and they'll guess he was one of the 7 astronauts.
Thank you. -- and yes, it does.
Nah, Tenet was on his way out and settling scores. It's not the reason he left.
And it still doesn't seem like Rove is the source of the leak. It is either Novak Source #1 or Miller's source.
Thank you, Sir. You simply confirmed what I was pretty sure I was reading: Rove is free and clear. I just couldn't figure out why the copy essentially said that Rove was free and clear, but the authors continued to say that he wasn't. You'd thing I'd be immune to NYT jujitsu after all these years!
"The person who has been briefed on the matter said that Mr. Rove neither knew Ms. Wilson's name nor that she was a covert officer."
Best phrase out of the headlines. I'm just sick and tired of the MSM giving Wilson more than the standard 15 minutes.
Of course, Tenet is just the obvious choice and I should have thought more about that. The CIA and State are crammed full of democrats. It's probably someone we never heard of. But you're right, it's not Tenet.
