Publisher Knight Ridder Inc. on Thursday said quarterly earnings fell 14 percent due to circulation declines, while rival Tribune Co. relied on cost cutting to help it post higher profits.
Circulation declines at both media companies underscored the problems the industry has faced in subscription drives since do-not-call lists began blocking telemarketers. At the same time, more readers are getting their news from new media such as the Internet rather than traditional newspapers.

Every letter I write to the MSM about some stupid biased article they are spreading, I always ask them how their circulation is doing.............
I find this news about the medias continued death spiral hilarious and most deserved.....

The msm has bigger problems than the "no call list".
I hate to say it, but I am enjoying their decimation. My local paper is filled with former Boston Globe editorialist's that got the boot. I know this not because I buy their papers, but because read the old copies I pick from the trash.
In the last year, I have only purchased the wsj.

Perhaps many of their subscribers were terrorists in-sir-gents, and they are killing themselves off?

Of course. Newspapers are hardcopy and stored in libraries. Unless the FR archives are also researched, future generations will get a false perspective on this moment in history.

The media is biased and sees declining circulation figures.
The entertainment world pushes crap (when GOOD material is still produced) and sees declining attendence figures.
Obviously they are not to blame for their diminishing returns. It "must" be because people are stealing info from the internet.

It "must" be because people are stealing info from the internet.I suppose we could help them get hits by posting articles from their sites...
But I also think we should make 'em get down on their hands and knees and BEG us to do it.
