U.S. Senator Chuck Schumer and Ambassador Joseph Wilson will hold a press conference at 3:00pm TODAY, July 14, 2005 in the Mansfield Room of the U.S. Capitol to call for the suspension of White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove' security clearance until the investigation of the leak of CIA Agent Valerie Plame's identity is resolved.

The Dems have officially cemented they have nothing. That they know they are finished in '06.

Rove isn't guilty. Bush isn't going to get rid of him. he is going to strip clearance. The House isn't going to impeach him to oblige the Democrat's petty partisan tantrum. The American people don't give a damn, and if they did, it would be so complicated they'd throw their hands up in the air and say the hell with it.

So what do the Dems get out of this? Everything thrown at Rove and the administration in a co-ordinated strategy with Wilson and Rove will emerge untouchable. The adminisration still strong and intact. The Democrats & MSM irrelevant. The Republicans conceivably passing the 60 member count in the Senate in '06.

Nothing. They can call for his security clearance all they want, but it won't be revoked or even suspended for baseless allegations.

Schumer better watch out because if Wilson is actually the focus of the Grand Jury investigation then Schumer will then have just inserted himself in the investigation since he too has a Security Clearance. I actually think that Wilson is the nervous one and is trying to gain allies and deflect any situation he's in to Rove.

How did we get to this point? When did a trip to Niger and the Vice President even become part of the issue? The RNC seemed to use various attacks on Joe Wilson's credibility regarding this trip to rebut the Democrats' argument that Rove should be fired for violating the cherished White House code of ethics. But where's the argument that Rove played no part in the leak or that, even if he did, that it was excusable?

I'm just not understanding any of the hullaballoo anymore. Joe Wilson, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney... Seems like everyone and their grandmothers are involved in this somehow. Could someone do me the favor of just explaining how we got here and how to sort through the mess of non-verbal argument? I'm not lazy; I just don't know where to start my research.

Wilson is a liar; Rove has allowed any reporter he spoke to to discuss what he said to them.

This Rove hatred is real inside baseball stuff. MSNBC polls be damned, I don't know how this is going to turn out, but it seems like one of those stories that is only going to hurt both sides.
