there remains significant speculation in the UK that those 'suicide' bombers didn't know of their appointment with the reaper, after all, suicide bombers rarely need timing devices.
there are so many odd things about the suspects that don't match with what we think is the profile.
the concern in the UK is that 'outhere' is a chap who appears able to persuade integrated, non-religous, westernised and intelligent young men to do this. all had decent jobs or prospects, all had close white friends, and none had been particularly religous or observant.
i don't wear a tinfoil hat, but there is someing very odd going on.
All possibilities must be looked into....even that they were told something else was in the backpacks and asked to deliver them. We're they given money for their efforts? Did they leave a tape stating they were giving their lives (per other suicide bombers)? Why would you carrying all your ID and credit cards with you if you were planning on dying? A lot of unanswered questions for sure!
It's not tinfoil time, it's time to solve the mystery.
Speaking of "profile"...
Has anyone noticed that whenever there are crimes committed that the media is covering extensively, they often have some professional "profiler" on stating what the "typical criminal" would be like, would be doing, thinking, what we should look for, etc.
However, I have never seen any of these people to be correct when the actual "perps" have been caught. At least I do not recall any. Example: They profiled the DC sniper, to be one person, from the area who knew the roads, yadda, yadda. Turned out to be 2 people who traveled all over; never lived in the area.
I think sometimes these "profilers" are more harm than good when they get on TV and expound on the kind of person who might be responsible for a particular crime. They make the public look for specific types; expect specific behavior, etc. When, more often, the criminals don't match any profiles at all.
If I was hell bent on accomplishing my mission I would have a timer on the bomb. If it was just up to me pushing the button I may chicken out.
Not quite. From the TimesOnline:
Shehzad never expressed an interest in politics but was a devout Muslim. Saj, a friend bearing an Arabic-script tattoo on his arm, said Shehzad was a quiet lad, religious. He used to go to every mosque in Beeston and there are loads of mosques around here.

Khan moved to a council house in Lees Holm, Thornhill, Dewsbury, six months ago and became a liaison officer in another local school. His wife, Hasini Patel, is said to have held anti-Taleban, pro-women views at odds with her husbands version of Islam.

Religion inspired his (Hasib Hussain's) change of heart. He made the Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca as well as visiting Pakistan. Police will be trying to discover whether Hussain, who blew himself to pieces along with 12 passengers on the No 30 bus in Tavistock Square, adopted his radical views at home or abroad.
I read a few weeks ago that suicide bombers in Iraq aren't quite the "volunteers" they appear to be. The masterminds are sending them on seemingly innocent errands to certain places and blowing up the bombs in their cars remotely.
Could be the same thing here. The timers could just be fail-safes in case nerves got the better of the bombers, or they could have been the primary detonator and the bombers thought they were just going to drop the backpacks off somewhere and get away alive.
