I was seven, too, during Carla, living north of ya'll in Houston (Bellaire). And it was bad enough there! But the worse part of it all for me was the fact that her name was my name, too. It gave the rest of my name new meaning too, though little could my parents have ever imagined anything like that ever happening. I only had to endure the good natured ribbing seven more years 'til we moved to New Orleans. No one had ever heard of hurricane Carla in NO. Just Betsy.

Hunker down all you Texans and stay safe.

I have noticed over the past several years that when I know someone with the same name as a hurricane, it is usually bad. Hope it doesn't ring true this time, have a friend with a daughter named Emily.
