She's still in the SE Caribbean, a long way from the US.
She has developed quite a distinct eye over the past several hours, compared to this morning when I wasn't able to discern one from the visible satellite.
This is the first time I've been able to see an eye in Emily.

Re will houston be effected, hard to tell at this point. So times, hurricanes just keep going west and plow into Mexico, Emily might just do that, it is not unheard of, but it is not that common, in order for that to happen the storm has to be under the influence of a huge high for weeks at a time, the high has to grow or move almost with the huricane, now it appears that is exactly what is happening wioth Emily, but if anything changes, and the weather around (galveston) here sure is changing lately then Emily will move north. I'd say it 50/50 for a upper Texas hit. But as other have noted it all depend on the High above Emily, if that holds for 4 or 5 or 6 more days, Emily goes to Mexico
I'm ready for the next hurricane not to be a "major" one.
ROTF! Ex and her husband and leaving Saturday morning for a week in Cancun!
What a difference a day makes!
well, that's good news..........for the moment.
Emily looks dangerous. I pray for every soul in her path.
I'm not going near this one...
;o)
My daughter is in Cancun until tuesday. I have a feeling they'll be coming home early.
:-). Risky to plan trips to the Gulf this time of year. Did they buy the "trip disruption" insurance?
I'm being mean when I shouldn't be and I really hope they have a great time. I hear there's supposed be really beautiful weather after a hurricane.
