Karl Rove, Whistleblower

He told the truth about Joe Wilson.

Wednesday, July 13, 2005 12:01 a.m. EDT

Democrats and most of the Beltway press corps are baying for Karl Rove's head over his role in exposing a case of CIA nepotism involving Joe Wilson and his wife, Valerie Plame. On the contrary, we'd say the White House political guru deserves a prize--perhaps the next iteration of the "Truth-Telling" award that The Nation magazine bestowed upon Mr. Wilson before the Senate Intelligence Committee exposed him as a fraud.

As soon as Bush names a nominee, the media will stop caring about this.

From Byron York at National Review (can you imagine this being an operable notion in the previous administration?):

If Fitzgerald would like Karl to provide you (Cooper's Lawyer) with some other assurances, we will.'" Luskin (KR's lawyer) says he got in touch with the prosecutor — "Rule number one is cooperate with Fitzgerald, and there is no rule number two," Luskin says — and asked what to do.

I love the rule no. 1 and there is no rule no. 2 statement. Sounds like something W would command (or something W heard his mom say before...).

And .. I think it's especially funny coming right on the heels of Kerry and Clinton getting on TV today demanding that Rove be fired. LOL!

Your humble opinion, my friend is right on the money. About three people care about this. Fact is. the Democrat Party and the MSM are making fools out of themselves, and the majority of Americans get it!!! The Democrats sink another notch down!!!

"All this tells me is that ROVE did violate the law, didn't follow procedures and there is a "cover up" underway. Guess I'll be branded a lurker or what ever, but I am an arch Conservative and there isn't one law for some and another law for the politically connected. JMO"

Welcome to FR.

You have plenty of company in the "I have no idea what I'm talking about" department. Pull up a seat and rest your brain.

Nice to see this in the second-most respected newspaper in the world, according to a recent poll. The NYT was seventh or eighth, as I recall.

You already branded yourself.....as A.B.Normal.

And I'm not flaming, I simply don't understand how anyone could reach your conclusions. I'm so damn glad to find out that behind the scenes, Rove is defending this administration. One of my terminal gripes has been how Republicans never mastered the art of instant response to the outrageous accusations of the left. Republicans have let lies and spin go unanswered, they allowed oft-repeated half-truths and distortions to become so familiar, people started believing them. Like "Republicans are racists". Republicans starve babies, kill old folks, poison the air and water".

"I wonder if Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame will continue to pose smilingly for the cameras since they have been publicly discredited?!!"

Are you kidding, PeskyOne? Wilson was discredited already, by the 9-ll commission report. Wilson told the world Dick Cheney authorized his Niger trip. He said his wife had nothing to do with his assignment. A lie exposed by the 9-ll Commission when they found CIA email confirmation Valerie Plame recommended him. So of course Wilson will continue to "pose smilingly". That's what liberals do...gut it out. And it's easy to do when the MSM doesn't challenge their gall. Think "Clinton"....it will all come back to you.

My favorite quote in this is: "But it appears Mr. Rove didn't even know Ms. Plame's name and had only heard about her work at Langley from other journalists."

perhaps the next iteration of the "Truth-Telling" award that The Nation magazine bestowed upon Mr. Wilson before the Senate Intelligence Committee exposed him as a fraud.

Did they take it back?

Hell no. The Nation and Wilson had a history together and I'm sure they collaborated in this "get Bush" scheme. In fact, I know they did. David Corn helped beat the drum promoting the demonstrably false story that Wilson was peddling.

You so SO right! Aren't you glad to learn, then, that of course no Bush supporting Republican has been shown to have broken any laws? They are in fact the victims of a rogue element at CIA and State to bring down a sitting President during time of war.

I look forward to you bringing your passionate sense of justice to the correct set of facts and demanding accountability for the real scoundrels:

Joe Wilson and his wife, in addition to a deceitful media and dems.

Me, too! I thought it was wonderful to learn that Rove was setting the record straight.

He was right...and what does it tell us that he was ignored. We know what it tells us.

Nothing personal against ROVE, GWB or the Republicans. I just want an unbiased opinion, not a biased opinion from the Press, the Dems or here. I know we all lack the facts or the ability to get to the bottom of the matter. The reporter does not deserve amnestey for a right that does not exist. I think that a definitive clearing of ROVE would be in the best interests of all.
