LOL! So true. Yesterday I was trying to explain to my wife who and what the deal was with this case. She's very smart, but doesn't give a damn about political intrigue. Her basic response: "This isn't news. Who cares about any of it?"

Indeed. The spur for our conversation was an NPR story that tossed out names and details that require one to have followed the story in some detail since its inception. The story was and is utterly irrelevant, except insofar as it helps to provide political traction for the next round of partisan crap. By pursuing this stuff, the D's and MSM are indeed marginalizing themselves from normal folks. (And this, IMHO, helps to explain the red/blue dichotomy on the electoral maps.)
