BP Plc. said late Monday that Thunder Horse, one if its big Gulf of Mexico deepwater oil rigs, was listing badly after Hurricane Dennis swept through area this past weekend. The semi-submersible rig, an essential component in the development of the Thunder Horse oil and gas field on Mississippi Canyon Block 778, about 150 miles southeast of New Orleans, was heeled over at an angle of 20 to 30 degrees, the company said. While too early to say what caused the rig to lean, righting and repairing it could pose a costly delay to BP's plans to bring the field on line later this year. The Thunder Horse platform is among the world's biggest deepwater production platforms, designed to process about 250,000 barrels of crude oil a day, 200 million cubic feet of natural gas and accommodate a crew of 229.
I suspect that they'll have the thing fixed and righted inside of 10 days.
Hurricane Dennis didn't do that, President George W Bush did! Bush's FAULT!
I read elsewhere it's likely only a ballasting issue, no structural damage. Hopefully they just need to pump some water around to reright it.
It's semi-submersible, all right...
I like the UFO in the background (right-side, above boom).
scary
Woman and minorities will be hit hardest by this.
He claims he has been paid to ride out storms on several oil rigs over the years. He said that if they are unoccupied for some period of time they could be claimed by someone as being abandoned.
Hes probably FOS. Over the 40+ years Ive known him he is either in jail or drunk. But he told some good stories about it just as if he were there
see under the crane... that lighter water..could that be a oil leak?
But it'll take 6 months to write the environmental impact statement..
Thunderbird 1 enroute
Actually, it's all due to global warming....
Did Hillary visit and land to see the damage?.............
Lol...well timed smark aleck remark...Kudos to you.
hmmm could be or everything in the kitchen and bathroom area went forward
