Sisters Oppose Anti-Rights Fundraiser at French Embassy
LAKEWAY, TX -- It's billed as a birthday celebration for famed columnist Art Buchwald, but this party's main purpose is to raise funds for an organization determined to deprive Americans of their basic human right of self-defense - with the French Embassy providing the venue for the occasion.
"This isn't about having a fundraiser. Everyone has them," said Deb Altrath, Co-Founder and President of Second Amendment Sisters. "This is about the French Embassy hosting a fundraiser for a group that will use those funds to deprive American citizens of their constitutional rights."
"If this were for AIDS research or cancer research, that would be different. But it's not. The French Embassy is aiding and abetting the destruction of the United States Constitution by hosting this event for the Brady Campaign," added Mari Thompson, another of SAS's Co-Founders.
-------------------------------------------------
The Sisters have drafted a letter of protest to the French Ambassador, and are urging others to do the same. The letter is available for viewing at SAS's website, www.2asisters.org.
Here is a copy of the letter that has been faxed to the French Embassy. (They will also receive a snail-mailed hard copy of the letter.) COPY OF LETTER:
Embassy of France

Washington, DC 200
I am a supporter of the nearly 80 million gun owners in the United States who oppose your collaboration with the Brady Campaign and its efforts to undermine the rights of American citizens.
The Brady Campaign uses its funds to lobby for legislation that places severe restrictions on gun ownership in the United States. Studies have shown that gun control only serves to increase the rates of violent crime because criminals will not obey these laws; the restrictions that the Brady Campaign calls for only effect those who choose to obey them. Law-abiding citizens such as myself will therefore be at the mercy of those to whom laws means nothing.
I hereby ask that you withdraw your support for the Brady Campaigns fundraising effort.
Sincerely,
(add your name here)
Second Amendment Sisters is a women's advocacy group dedicated to preserving the basic human right of self-defense.
I see the party faithful are attending. Looks like a "Who's Who" of the CPUSA:

Senator Dianne Feinstein
Senator Tim Johnson
Senator Edward Kennedy
Senator Patrick Leahy
Senator Carl Levin
Senator Barbara A. Mikulski
Senator Patty Murray
Senator Jack Reed
Well--that bunch will fit right in with the Frenchies!
I would be sorely tempted to join the DC Chapter for a freep of this event!
Yes, unfortunately. Maybe they're part French.
Today was my wife's birthday. She only asked for one thing: a Beretta Tomcat. Probably because it's cute.
Anyhow, in regards to your tagline.
ping
BTTT!!!!!!!
Your wife has good taste! I have a couple of Barettas. Tell her Happy Birthday for me.
She only asked for one thing: a Beretta Tomcat. Probably because it's cute.
HEHEHE. That ought to give her a shot in the arm, umm.... the other way.
I have to say that you are very consistent in your opinions and you don't beat around the bush like a lot of people.
Yet another reason to boycott all things French.
"P.S. Your wine isn't any good either."
I would call it the "privilege of the old"--but I was always plain spoken. The way I have always seen it-a spade is indeed a spade!--Case closed--LOL!
Boycotting is good--but get those faxes and phone calls going, please. We need to bring HUGE attention to this!
Actually, from what I read the Frenchman in the countryside values his right to keep a shotgun or two around for hunting, though they don't can't seem to connect the dots between being armed and being able to defend themselves.
Nonetheless, I'm not sure all of France would be in complete sympathy with the Brady Bunch.
Interestingly, the French "Declaration of the Rights of Man" draws upon the U.S. Bill of Rights and the Virginia Constitution, and was written by the Marquis de Lafayette with help from his friend - Thomas Jefferson.
Does anyone have contacts in France, or have a way to post this news to a French blog?
So I have a deep appreciation for people like you. Keep it up and keep supporting the 2nd amendment!!!
That's why I love down-to-earth, straight-talking folks. One of my student's parents was like that. She told me, "I don't like to read with my child at all." Normally, that would have made me cringe, but she was just so up-front about it. Then later on she said, "You know Mr. ___________, some teachers are ok, others are just crap, but you're all right." She became a great supporter and actually cried when we had our last parent program. Her daughter had a cleft palate and made a TON of progress. She was afraid to even show her face or get up in front of the class at the beginning of the year. She didn't even want to answer when called on. She hooked up with this Spanish girl though and both of them blossomed. By the end of the year, she was a confident, well-adjusted, and not-so-shy child.
So I have a deep appreciation for people like you. Keep it up and keep supporting the 2nd amendment!!!
