Well, this is surprising.

Not really. He saw the conservative reaction to the gang of 7 and he wants to be president. In particular, he saw what happened to Pat DeWine's son in the primary.

The big question now is, did the President notice? And if he did, will his legendary stubborness make him appoint Gonzales anyway?

I think that he and Graham and Dewine and other moderate-but-not-quite-RINO's all took a large amount of heat for that stunt they pulled in May. Maybe there were some promises of serious consequences should they continue to play to the media and the 'Rats rather than their own party.

"Well, this is surprising."

He is Republican about 10% of the time.

He isn't to be trusted.

Ain't it, though? I'm just glad his buddy, Daschle, is gone.

Isn't this the same guy that sat out in the Red Sox infield and said that he WOULD NOT back the "nuke option", if Frist went with it?

So, how does McCain plan to go to "war" over these nominees, if he has already announced that he won't stop the filibuster?

Well, this is surprising.

Trying to jump out in front of the train and look like he's leading, don'tcha know. Remember someone else used to do that with a press release on each and every major event even if it was just a threat of FOIA.....

Regardless, I hope he maintains this position.

McCain just ensured his spot on this week's Sunday talk shows, even if he didn't succeed in convincing or impressing me.

Well, this is surprising.

Only if you think McPainInTheAss is going to change his rinoantic ways...

I don't believe he's capable of that change at all!!

He sure loves to play media attentive politics doesn't he?

Sounds like somebody running for President on the GOP side...I guess he's decided not to run on the Dem side.

Now that is surprising.

I wonder if Dubya told them in the meeting today that either they play fair or the nuclear option is exercised.

Not really. McCain, Graham and the others set this up for themselves rather well with the previous compromise.

By holding out then, they get to play the saviors now. Pretty deft poliical move, if you ask me.

Still plenty of time for him to have a Road-to-Damascus experience and jump in front of the cameras at the 11th hour.
