14:14 - Lead Drops To 8’40"
The peloton is now 8’40" behind the seven escapees. The attack was instigated by Posthuma and Brochard in the first kilometer of the stage. These two riders were joined by Krivtsov at the 3km mark. A counter-attack from Sanchez, Facci, Bortolami and Isasi caught the three early escapees at the 16km mark. 14:09 - Eight Complete Teams
There are only eight teams with a full contingent of nine riders still in the Tour. The complete formations are: Discovery Channel, T-Mobile, Rabobank, Cofidis, Quickstep, Bouyges Telecom, Gerolsteiner and Euskaltel. There are 173 riders still in the race. Today’s retiree is Gerrit Glomser. His Lampre-Caffita team-mate Evgeny Petrov didn’t take the start after a doping control conducted by the UCI this morning.

13:08 - Results Of Detrier SprintThe first intermediate sprint was meant to be at the 40km mark but because of the shortened stage it was at the 26km point of the stage that’s been reduced by 14km.
The points in Detrier were won by:
1. Gianluca Bortolami (LAM) 6pts
2. Mauro Facci (FAS) 4pts
3. Yuriy Krivtsov (A2R) 2pts
I remember that picture from last year. Those are Basques - and the Tour is in the Alps now - not the Pyrenees... I think they were cheering for Mayo.

15:37 - Popovych CrashesYaroslav Popovych has crashed on the descent of the Cormet-de-Roseland. He is said to have hit the CSC team car. He’s back on his bike and racing to try and rejoin the main peloton.
Popovych was in an incident. Apparently he crashed with the CSC car. He seems to be ok though...
15:39 - Diesel On The DescentSome diesel is on the road between the 112 and 114km mark of the stage. It has been covered by sand but it has the potential to make the descent dangerous but the riders have been warned about the problem.

15:55 - Peloton 6’15" Behind
The peloton is now 6’15" behind Brochard and Sanchez. The yellow jersey, Voigt, has just been seen delivering water for his CSC team-mates in the middle of the bunch.

16:04 - 40km To GoThe peloton is being led by the Discovery Channel team. This group is now 4’30" behind the nine stage leaders with 40km to race.
16:03 - Nine Riders Lead The Stage
Jaksche’s group of seven has just caught Brochard and Sanchez. The peloton is 4’38" behind the group of nine riders at the front of the stage.
15:50 - Results Of 2nd Intermediate Sprint
The points for the sprint in Bourg-Saint-Maurice were won by:
1. Brochard (BTL) 6pts
2. Sanchez (LSW) 4pts
3. Bortolami (LAM) 2ptsThe peloton past the site of the sprint with a deficit of 6’10" on the stage leader.
