Tour de France Stage 10 (live)
Le Tour de France ^

Posted on 07/12/2005 5:26:00 AM PDT by green iguana

14:14 - Lead Drops To 8’40"

The peloton is now 8’40" behind the seven escapees. The attack was instigated by Posthuma and Brochard in the first kilometer of the stage. These two riders were joined by Krivtsov at the 3km mark. A counter-attack from Sanchez, Facci, Bortolami and Isasi caught the three early escapees at the 16km mark. 14:09 - Eight Complete Teams

There are only eight teams with a full contingent of nine riders still in the Tour. The complete formations are: Discovery Channel, T-Mobile, Rabobank, Cofidis, Quickstep, Bouyges Telecom, Gerolsteiner and Euskaltel. There are 173 riders still in the race. Today’s retiree is Gerrit Glomser. His Lampre-Caffita team-mate Evgeny Petrov didn’t take the start after a doping control conducted by the UCI this morning.

Strength in all multiple areas is what makes Lance the favorite. Lance is among the best (top three) mountain climbers. His team is the best overall climbing team. Lance is among the best (top three) in the time trials. His team is among the best (top three) in the team time trial. The combination is very hard to beat.

I was hoping for a Basso upset win today. Alas, that was not to be. Armstrong seems incredibly strong as usual.

Fun to see Rasmussen and Valverde do well though.

Rasmussen finished 3'12" behind Lance in the first Time Trial. Methinks it won't be much of an issue come stage 20.....;-)

From what I can tell Discovery saved Rubiera and Beltran for later stages.

OLN’s entire broadcast for each day is available on their web page. Not live; posted a few hours after the end of the day’s race. It’s hidden. The way to find it is to “right click” a “clip” from a day, look at it’s address under “properties”, cut the address but leave off the “_” and everything after that, past that address and add a “.wmv”.

For example, today’s program is available at:

mms://dayport.wmod.llnwd.net/fc/a258/e1/v1/0040/08300020050712.wmv

I wonder how long this will last (until someone at OLN becomes aware).

Did you notice that Lance had not shaved today? Biker's will do that when they feel like they are going to have a big day. Lance must have felt good when he got up this morning.

That's for sure especially since the last time trail is three times longer.
