Whackjob George Noory just discussed the threat of nuclear terror in the U.S. Supposedly, several nukes have already been sneaked in over the Mexican border. Plans are to hit New York, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, and Los Angeles to kill 4 million people. This was from a Joseph Farah story.

I read the Farah story, it's definatly a bit sensational.

Overall, it seems as if most FReepers are quick to dismiss the possibility that al Qaida would acquire/be able to acquire nukes or nuclear material to create a bomb. To be honest, I question why anyone would dismiss anything when it comes to this group. They have shown time and time again that their main interest is mass casualty, and spectacular attacks. I strongly believe they would like nothing more than to go that route someday. The top guys in the organization have said that's their plan, and they generally tell us what they are going to do... then do it within a few yrs. They might not have the capability, but I'd want a lot more concrete evidence of that before throwing the possibility out the window.

I don't believe they have 40+ nukes, but I wouldn't be surprised if they managed to get their hands on a few. Then again, my field is politics... not nuclear science, so I know little about the actual feasibility of such a plan.

The quoted number was forty. Some were in the form of nuke mines, suitcase nukes and even a few warheads. One would be catastrophic. But forty?
