The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Terrorists could be just getting started
Full Story

New York City and Washington. Bali, Indonesia; Riyadh, Saudi Arabia; Istanbul, Turkey; Madrid, Spain. And now London.

When will it end? Where will it all lead?

The experts aren't encouraged. One terrorism researcher sees the prospect of "endless" war. Adds the man who tracked Osama bin Laden for the CIA, "I don't think it's even started yet."

From the article.

"As it stands the U.S. would have to undergo an internal revolution before Washington could enact the policies most needed to defend against the suitcase nuclear threat.

"Simply put, the country is not ready to accept such measures.

"The country is not convinced that such measures are absolutely necessary.

"Therefore, the government cannot accept the reality of suitcase nuclear bombs sitting on U.S. soil!

"To admit of such a thing would be tantamount to admitting that our form of government must come to an end."

I am reading your mind and I don't like it one bit.

Granny, you're right, but I'm stuck with this mind and there's little I can do to change it at this point in my life (smiling). My husband would certainly agree with you on occasion :-)

More reason than ever for mother's to NOT use formulas. Baby food can be made at home as well with a blender. Tampering with our babies' health is despicable, and well within the delight factor of a terrorist mind.

The sequential numbers on the hundred dollar bills may be a clue to the funding as they are recorded when shipped to banks in case of theft or fire, etc

The people still posting "they would have used them if they had them" show themselves to have a profound misunderstanding of al Qaida.

This bears repeating. AQ is not insane (in the strict, medical definition). They are very patient and know to only strike when they can get the most possible traction out of an attack. If they lit off the first nuke they got in our country, we would probably wipe AQ off of the face of the planet within a year. We would be devastated, but also determined to destroy our enemies once and for all.

If they waited until they had twenty or so nukes strategically placed and timed to go off at the same time, the level of terror and devastation would be off the chart. As much as I hate to say it, I think a lot of Americans would seriously consider capitulating at this point. Then they would probably deploy the bioweapons to really put the fear of Allah into the infidels.

That takes me off on another tangent. Why haven't they used bioweapons on us yet? Didn't some cabinet member recently say that he was shocked our food supply was not targeted yet? What would they be waiting for, it would be so easy for them to hit us with bioweapons. The obvious answer is that they are waiting to deliver the death blow.

"Worries Over Mohammed B. Becoming 'Prison Prophet'"

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "AMSTERDAM, 15/7/05 - Both the Lower House and the Public Prosecutors' Office (OM) fear that Theo van Gogh's killer Mohammed B. will use his years in prison to spread radical Islamic messages to other inmates and into the outside world. They demand that Justice Minister Piet Hein Donner take steps to prevent this.

During the inquiry into the murder of prominent columnist, filmmaker and Islam-critic Theo van Gogh, the OM intercepted two documents written by Mohammed B. in pre-trial custody. He had called one 'The constitution of a fundamentalist', the other was a poem praising Osama bin Laden.

The OM was able to intercept the texts in connection with the murder inquiry. But once the trial is over, the OM can no longer impose any prohibitions. B.'s sentence will be announced on 26 July. The OM has demanded life imprisonment."

I can think of one very cheap and easy way to prevent him from spreading his hate. But they do not have the testicular fortitude to do that yet.

"Rapper who applauded 9/11 loses airport gig (TSA)"
Houston Chronicle ^ | July 15, 2005 | MIKE GLENN

Posted on 07/15/2005 1:20:54 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "When Bassam Khalaf raps, he calls himself the Arabic Assassin.

On the Web: Khalaf's music Web site. NOTE: This site contains obscene material

A Houston-based rapper said his decision to call himself the "Arabic Assassin" was meant to stir up a bit of controversy in the music business.

The stage persona — along with some incendiary lyrics in one of his songs — also helped get Bassam Khalaf fired this month from his job as a baggage screener at Bush Intercontinental Airport.

"I thought it was kind of ridiculous. What does my music have to do with my job?" Khalaf said Thursday."

ARTICLE SNIPPET #2: "Khalaf doesn't deny that the material can be considered somewhat shocking but said it is an artistic statement and doesn't mean he supports or condones terrorism.

The lyrics on one song, Bringing the Pain, include references to flying a plane into a building on Sept. 11, 2005."

"EXCLUSIVE: FIND THIS MAN
?Bio-chemist wanted over terror attacks"
By Jeremy Armstrong

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "THIS is Egyptian Magdy Mahmoud Elnashar who is wanted over the London suicide bombings.

The 33-year-old bio-chemist is believed to have handed the keys of a terror base in Leeds to the four killers.

He is also thought to have been close to Lyndsay Jermain, a 19-year-old Jamaican also known as Abdullah Shaheed Jamal, suspected of being the fourth member of the gang.

A security source said: "We have to find out what exactly his role was in all of this. We need to know how he knew Jamal and came to give him the keys to that flat. We have to speak to him as soon as we can."

The Mirror has traced Elnashar to an address in the Maadu area of Cairo. Last night a woman answered the phone number of the address but did not comment."

KEY AL QAIDA LEADERS CAPTURED IN IRAQ

BAGHDAD, Iraq -- Multi-National Forces conducted several raids here recently capturing more than 30 terrorists, including two reported high ranking Al-Qaida leaders with ties to its leader in Iraq, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, according to a military spokesman.

Among those captured and close confidants to al-Zarqawi are Abdulla Ibrahim Muhammed Hassan al Shadad, or Abu Abdul Aziz and Khamis Farhan Khalaf Abd al Fahdawi, or Abu Seba. Aziz served Zarqawi as both a terrorist cell leader in Baghdad and as an operations officer for al-Qaida in Iraq and was captured here July 10.

According to authorities, Aziz is cooperating with Mutli-National Forces.

Coalition Operations in Ar Ramadi secured the capture of Abu Seba July 9 after intelligence provided information that led to his whereabouts. Seba served as a senior lieutenant of Al Qaida in Iraq, and is suspected in attacks against diplomats of Bahrain, Pakistan and the recent murder of Egyptian envoy, Ihab Salah al Din Ahmad al Sharif. Al Qaida ordered the attacks against Arab diplomats in an effort to reduce support for the government of Iraq according to a military spokesman.

During these raids vital information, evidence and equipment were recovered that implicate both Aziz and Seba as members of Zarqawi’s leadership cell.

Other information discovered included computer equipment, weapons, pornography, propaganda and documents.

FOR MORE INFORMATION, PLEASE CONTACT THE COMBINED PRESS INFORMATION CENTER AT (703) 270-0279 / 0299 / 0321 / 0319 / 0273 / 0320.

New Details Emerge About Thwarted Baghdad Suicide Attack

American Forces Press Service

BAGHDAD, Iraq, July 14, 2005 – As military officials continue to investigate a thwarted suicide-bomb attack today, new details are emerging about how the events unfolded.
Two bombers with explosives strapped to their bodies approached a coalition forces checkpoint in central Baghdad shortly before 9 a.m., after a car bomb exploded about 200 meters outside the same checkpoint.

Initially, the two suicide bombers were in front of the car that exploded, then they began walking toward the Iraqi police and Iraqi army soldiers who were responding to the car bomb. U.S. military officials said they suspect the two bombers might have been targeting the first responders to the car-bomb attack.

An Iraqi soldier shot one suicide bomber, and, as the bomber fell to the ground, his explosives detonated.

Shrapnel from that explosion wounded the second suicide bomber.

"The (Iraqi) soldiers were about to pick him up and treat him like one of the wounded but then they noticed that he was wearing a suicide vest," said Maj. Alayne Conway, 4th Brigade Combat Team spokesperson.

That bomber was then shot by the (Iraqi police) and put in the back of a nearby pick-up truck until an Iraqi explosive ordnance detonation team could arrive to disarm the vest, rendering the area safe and preventing further casualties.

"The Iraqi EOD soldier was the real hero of the day as he approached the wounded suicide bomber and disarmed the vest," Conway said.

The vest was eventually turned over to coalition forces as part of their investigation.

The wounded bomber, paralyzed by bomb shrapnel and gunfire, was taken to the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Baghdad's International Zone, where he remains in critical condition.

Four local Iraqi citizens were also wounded in the terrorist attack and evacuated to a local hospital.

"Chinese General Warns of Nuclear Conflict Over Taiwan"
By Patrick Goodenough
CNSNews.com International Editor
July 15, 2005

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "(CNSNews.com) - China is prepared to use nuclear weapons against the United States in the event of a conflict over Taiwan, Western newspapers quoted a senior Chinese military officer as saying Thursday.

Stressing that he was giving his personal views, not official policy, Gen. Zhu Chenghu said that "if the Americans are determined to interfere ... we will be determined to respond."

Zhu said China would prepare itself for the destruction of all of its cities east of Xian - a city in central China - while "the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds ... of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese."

His comments, delivered at a briefing arranged by a Hong Kong foundation, were reported by the Asian Wall Street Journal, Financial Times and International Herald Tribune.

Zhu, who also teaches at China's National Defense University, is reputed to be a "hawk," the papers said, calling his warning the most specific by a senior Chinese official in nearly a decade.

They also quoted Zhu as saying he did not anticipate war with the U.S."
