I agree with you, nwctx. Imagine the planning - over ten years- from how to obtain the stuff, to how to upgrade it and obtain reliable tech support, to how to transport it and get it through our borders and into position. Some by land, and some by sea. Perhaps some flown in like cocaine...
Let's assume a group of jihadi's had a nuke stashed in a small truck. How would they then get it into position? They would have to be looking for a place where they could do this unobtrustively. With all the focus on mass transit, I'm still suspecting they want to hit the subways in some of the cities. Now, how would one transport a nuke into the subway system and where would one place it for maximum effect?
Maybe some of the "mole people" have seen something? :)
Seriously, I hope our NEST teams are searching every nook and cranny in those subway tunnels.....
OT:
I still recall those 2 Ukranian pilots who died shortly after delivering their cargo. Both were in excellent health prior. Someone "above" had bribed the workers not to search the cargo. I've always wondered whether these 2 died of some kind of acute radiation poisoning- I mean- they died in a matter of hours.....

"Suspect in Dutch filmmaker's murder makes dramatic court room confession"
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The man accused of killing Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh confessed to a Dutch court that he acted out of his religious beliefs, saying he would do "exactly the same" if he were ever set free.
"I take complete responsibility for my actions. I acted purely in the name of my religion," 27-year-old Dutch-Moroccan national Mohammed Bouyeri told the court in Amsterdam on the final day of his trial."
ARTICLE SNIPPET 2: ""I can assure you that one day, should I be set free, I would do exactly the same, exactly the same," he said, speaking slowly in sometimes halted Dutch.
He said he felt an obligation to Van Gogh's mother Anneke, present in court, to speak, but offered no sympathy.
"I have to admit I do not feel for you, I do not feel your pain, I cannot -- I don't know what it is like to lose a child," he said as Van Gogh's family and friends looked on.
"I cannot feel for you ... because I believe you are an infidel," he added.
"I acted out of conviction -- not because I hated your son."
Van Gogh's mother listened quietly as Bouyeri, wearing a Palestinian black and white headscarf, spoke with a hint of admiration for her son.
"I cannot accuse your son of hypocrisy because he was not a hypocrite. He said things out of conviction," Bouyeri said of Van Gogh."

Military prosecutor indicts five Jordanians in plot to attack tourists
Tuesday July 12, 2005
By JAMAL HALABY
Associated Press Writer
AMMAN, Jordan (AP) Prosecutors indicted five Jordanians in an alleged terror conspiracy Tuesday involving plans to attack intelligence agents, tourists and top hotels in the capital, Amman.
The officials said the plots were linked to Jordanian fugitive Mohammad Rateb Qteishat, who is believed to be in neighboring Iraq.
The prosecution's indictment said Qteishat planned the attacks and provided training and explosives to the suspects, who were arrested in February.
The four men, all in their early 20s from prominent families in the northern city of Salt, were accused of conspiring to commit terrorist attacks and possessing explosives. They could face the death penalty if convicted. None entered a plea.
Jordan, a close U.S. ally, has arrested scores of Islamic militants for plotting to carry out militant attacks in this moderate Arab kingdom. It has also sentenced numerous to death in absentia, including the wanted Jordanian-born al-Qaida in Iraq leader, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
Al-Zarqawi has not been linked to the Qteishat-led plot.
The five-page indictment said the targets included three five-star hotels in upscale Amman districts, foreign tourists and Jordanian intelligence agents.
The defendants allegedly rented an Amman apartment to accommodate visiting militants who were to be sent by Qteishat to help in carrying out the terror attacks. Explosives and detonators were bought in Syria and smuggled into Jordan.
In another case, seven men were charged with carrying out acts harming a foreign country, including recruiting militants to fight U.S. troops in Iraq.
They allegedly recruited six militants, including Raed Mansoor al-Banna, who was accused of carrying out postwar Iraq's biggest suicide bombing the Feb. 28 attack in Hillah that killed 125 people.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Jurors Tuesday saw a dramatic video of former professor Sami Al-Arian saying God commands us to jihad, because there is honor in holy war.
The video introduced by prosecutors also shows Al-Arian asking for donations, exhorting the crowd to give money so that we will confront our enemies united.
In the video, filmed at an April 7, 1991 conference in Cleveland, the-then University of South Florida professor is introduced as the president of the Islamic Committee for Palestine (ICP), which is then described as the active arm of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine.
The video shows Al-Arian saying: God, praise and glory be to Him, commands us to fight and commands us to jihad, because there is honor in it and because there is victory for Islam and victory for right over tyranny.
Despite all difficulties, the Palestinian people have decided to continue: to continue to confront, to continue to resist, to continue to endure, to set an example for all people and Muslims around them, Al-Arian tells the meeting.
Thus is the way of struggle. Thus is the way of giving. Thus is the way of sacrifice. Thus is the way of battle. Thus is the way of jihad. Thus is the way of martyrdom. Thus is the way of blood, because this is the path to heaven.
He warns his listeners against taking as friends Christians or Jews. The jury sat, seemingly spellbound, for 40 minutes as the video played.
