Regarding that 'perfume' in the bomb, wasn't there talk way back
when about 'perfume' being some sort of code word or something
when they were making threats?
perhaps it may be a signal?

I also recall something about perfume.
I think it was Velveeta who did some digging on it.
and agree, it may be a signal.
What ever it is that I forgot, it was not about using it to make a hotter fire.
Perfume:
a small memory, that it might be a code word for poison that could be dispersed into the air.
also, take a look at this google:

Vets discuss likelihood of animal-disease terrorism
BY JOY POWELL
STAR TRIBUNE
MINNEAPOLIS - In a worldwide gathering here, nearly 10,000 veterinarians and other animal-health workers are learning what they can do if terrorists infect animals with diseases that might spread to people or, at the least, crush economies.
"Agroterror would in fact be very easy to do, and we are quite vulnerable," said Dr. Corrie Brown, a professor and head of the Pathology Department at the University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine.
Animal diseases that could be turned to weapons by terrorists are typically highly contagious and easily obtained in less-developed countries, Brown said Saturday at a joint convention of the American Veterinary Medical Association and the World Veterinary Congress. The congress, which includes veterinarians from 40 nations, has not met in the U.S. since 1934.
Brown's presentation included an image of a scrawled list of livestock diseases -- some of which could kill humans -- that turned up in a cave in Afghanistan. The U.S. government recently declassified the list.
"We know that there are numerous operatives that were planning these things," she said.
The worst terrorist attacks of this era, from the Sept. 11 strikes to the London bombings, have been designed to swiftly kill people. Veterinarians and experts from the Office of Homeland Security worry that terrorists might infect animals and cause human plagues with diseases such as Ebola or Rift Valley Fever, a viral disease that attacks livestock and can be spread to people by mosquitoes.
Heightening the veterinarians' concern is a shortage of laboratory facilities equipped to handle dangerous foreign diseases, and also a coming shortage of veterinarians, who provide the link between animal health and public health.
Veterinary workers are on the front line of defending the world from such terrorism, because animals serve as sentinels for the presence of disease that could spread to people, said Bernard Vallat, director general of the Paris-based World Organization for Animal Health.
Vallat said he fears the introduction of diseases such as avian influenza, anthrax or rabies by bioterrorists intent on harming both animals and people. Other pathogens that strictly affect livestock can devastate economies, he said.
"The foot-and-mouth disease virus could be a terrible agent for bioterrorism because it could destroy totally the production of milk in a country," Vallat said.
Foot and mouth disease, which also attacks hogs and sheep, could sweep across the United States with dire economic consequences if not caught within the first 24 hours, said Dr. Bonnie Beaver, president of the American Veterinary Medical Association.
The hosts could be plentiful. Last year, the world produced 21 billion animals to feed its 6.2 billion people.
Veterinarians and other animal-health workers attended seminars that began Saturday and will continue through Tuesday on how to spot the blisters, sores and other signs of exotic diseases

This is from the marburg surveillance thread:
"Chinas categorization of the lowly transmissible Ebola virus
The incidence of Ebola virus in China has caused some areas in China to have mutating strain of Ebola virus. So far, all the clinical cases are infected through contact of blood. There hasnt been any reports on a infection through other means. The reported cases in Guangdong, Hunan and Fujian provinces all carry different characteristics.
Currently, the official categorization of the Ebola virus based on where the virus was found in China.
1. EB-SZ type: It was found in Shenzhen of South China. People contracted the virus showing severe illness, and they were infected through the contact of blood. Incubation period is 2-4 weeks. Some individual cases have incubation period up to 6 months. Some cases are asymptomatic. Those infected peoples immunity drops suddenly that triggers other co-infections and complications. When non-Ebola
virus related infections become severe, it could lead to diathesis from the major blood vessels. In severe cases, blood vessels disintegrate; muscular tissues became fluid-like; patients died of lack of oxygen due to haemorrhage. After the case die, the disintegration symptoms persist with the change of room temperature, ie above 12.4 degree Celcius. The process continues until the carcass
completely disintegrate. The disintegration process slows down when temperature is lower than 8.7 degree Celcius; and the process halts at below 4 degree Celcius. Therefore, the best treatment for infected person is to use low temperature therapy. To treat the deceased cases, it is better to seal the body under low temperature. To disinfect the environment where the cases die has to use both high temperature disinfection and low temperature disinfection with the assistance of potent medication.
2. EB-ST type: It was found in Shantou of South China. People contracted the virus showing severe illness. Transmission is unknown. Incubation period: 30-120 days. Infected people have localized maculopapular rash. Cases occur in the form of diathesis in the smallest capillaries that lead to necrosis of the involved tissues. The characteristic of this virus is its intermittent exacerbation of
the symptoms. This virus is suspected to be the mutated by-product of Ebola virus and other viruses. The confirmative diagnosis is usually made by the identification of EB-SZ-like virus in the tissues of deceased cases.
3. EB-HN type: It was found in Hunan of Central China.
Transmission is unknown. Incubation is about 30-60 days. Infected cases experience discomfort due to the localized diathesis. After the disintegration of blood vessels, patients experience symptoms related to blood loss. Most of the deceased cases heavily infected organs were in their lungs. If the blood vessels of the internal organs were
infected, it will cause hepatic damage. Deceased cases face and bottom will disintegrate within 2-8 hours afterwards; their nails also fall apart. Autopsy found that the tissues of tendons were as soft as muscle. The deceased cases blood are contagious. Contact through other means will not lead to infection of the virus.
4. EB-FJ type: It was found in Fujian province of South China. The virus was transmitted through the carriers blood. Incubation period is about 20-30 days. Infected people will become immunocompromised that leads to influenza induced pneumonia and bleeding in the lungs. Subsequently, it leads to respiratory failure. Autopsy found that the vessels in the deceased cases lung were fluid like; other tissues were normal. Deceased cases displayed purplish
spots in their necks.
5. EB-ZJ type: It was found in Zhanjian of South China. Not much details on this virus subtype.
6. EB-SZ77 type: It was found in Shenzhen of South China
(adjacent to Hong Kong). This virus could infect birds."

"Suspicious Man Stopped At Church Service
Man Left Briefcase, Claims To Have Message From Allah"
POSTED: 3:41 pm EDT July 19, 2005
UPDATED: 5:04 pm EDT July 19, 2005
GREENVILLE -- Deputies called the bomb squad and the FBI to investigate.
The bomb squad blew up the bag, but found no explosives. The FBI told WYFF News 4 only that it was aware of the incident and would not elaborate, but Carpenter said he was told that Alnazli was on an FBI watch list."
Zardad is what gives meaning to the word evil.
Quite awhile back I had posted how there's a connection between martyrs and perfume. It's a vital part of their pre-martyrdom cleansing and prayer rituals to anoint themselves with oils and perfumes to make themselves more holy, pure, and more acceptable to Allah. Also, they say that when a martyr dies for many days afterwards they emit a beautiful perfume from the place of their martyrdom.
"Perfume," along with "necklace," and "severnaya" were a few key words associated with Al Qaeda last summer.
Thank you penguino. I'm glad your memory is better than mine; very glad.
Interesting that Hassan Almrei is in the news at the moment. Apparently his honey and perfume business in the Middle East was found out to have helped finance Osama's terrorist network. Right after 911, his Toronto high rise apartment was raided and they found all kinds of info on bin Laden, diagrams of airplane cockpits, diagrams of different military weapons, and lots of copies of passports and IDs. Unusual paraphernalia for a perfume salesman.
Perfume bomb connection? Signal?
Regarding Hassan Almrei and his paraphernalia, yes it is a odd collection for a perfume salesman, if that's all he was (not).

Afghan police thwart rocket attack on dam
Posted on Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at 5:17pm
Police said Tuesday they had thwarted a rocket attack against a major
hydropower dam near Kabul, the latest threat to stability in Afghanistan
ahead of parliamentary elections. The news came after a suspected
suicide bomber died in a failed assassination attempt against a district
chief in western Herat province. Acting on intelligence reports, police
found 10 BM-1 rockets late Sunday in the mountains near the Surobi
dam, the capital city's main source of electricity, said Gen. Shar Shah
Yousefzai, police chief for Surobi district. No one has been arrested, but
police were pursuing several suspects intent on destabilizing the
country, he said.
ITALY: EXPERTS TAKE IRAQ ULTIMATUM SERIOUSLY
Rome, 19 July (AKI) - Rather than a generic warning, the threats of terror attacks against Italy by the Abu Hafs al-Masri Brigades are a call to arms, according to Italian anti-terrorism officers interviewed by Milan daily Corriere della Sera. The threats made via Internet on Sunday include a 30-day ultimatum to the Rome government to withdraw its troops from Iraq. "We consider this statement credible, and therefore we must apply all possible preventitive measures to face up to this threat," the sources said. The al-Masri brigade was one of several groups that claimed responsibility for the London transport system bombings.
"It is not a coincidence that the ultimatum comes while the Italian parliament is deciding the re-financing of the military mission in Iraq," the senior officials were quoted as saying.
One of the sources noted that the experience of the 2004 Madrid train bombings showed that "common criminal groups in the West can act as mediators for groups seeking to obtain explosives for attacks." In this context, Italian investigators are particularly concerned about the so-called Balkan Route, frequently a crossroads for illegal trafficking in weapons and explosives.
The message appeared on a website linked to the al-Masri brigade - named after an Egyptian al-Qaeda commander married to one of Osama bin Laden's daughters, who was believed killed in Afghanistan in 2001. "Withdraw the troops. We give you one month. Then we will act, starting a bloody war at the heart of Europe" read the text of the message.
The Italian interior minister last week outlined a package of security measures intended to meet an upgraded terror threat. Security will also be intensified around Italy's 'art cities' and other possible cultural targets.

I still wonder how anyone can take a group who claimed the E. Coast blackout of 2003 seriously. That said, this would fit into the general ideas that further attacks against the U.S./Europe are upcoming.
But Spertzel believes Saddam was cooking up an even more sinister plan putting the poisons on department store shelves across the United States and Europe. He said that plan was "actively pursued" as late as March 2003. And that plan was at least, in part, funded by Saddam's corrupt Oil-for-Food activities.
"Some of the photographs that were obtained from this same laboratory had multiple different shapes of glass spray bottles, perfume spray bottles presumably to mimic different brand names," Spertzel said. "Can you imagine somebody going into Macy's department store and spray a little bit of a perfume to see whether they like the scent, only instead of perfume they're getting a face full of sarin?
"That would kill within, within a few minutes. If this were to appear at a couple different locations, imagine the economic impact in the U.S. people would be afraid to buy anything."

Maybe the perfume bottles were a test for future biological/chemical attacks?
