WOW .. what's not kosher here?
in any case, she is not a "covert" agent in any sense of the word.
This is going to backfire on the DUmmies and media. I can't wait!
Why do I have this feeling that DU is filled with comments like "Traitor!" and "He was great back in the Watergate days but now he's gone over to the dark side."
I am SHOCKED. Wow. Then again, I think Woodward knows the truth and simply wants to make sure that when the poo flings back in the NYT face, he is far from it.
If you tell a lie loudly enough and long enough...
How can anybody conclude anything other than Rove being a liar and a traitor?
It's amazing how that always happens.
Damn, and I thought Rove was innocent!
It's depressing that the opposition has so little in the way of substantive alternative solutions and proposals that they are reduced to shrill fishing expeditions like this.
Is there ANY PROOF that Plame was an undercover agent?
Or is this one of those cases where if we just say it over and over to ourselves it becomes true by default? You don't have to be a "secret agent man" to be involved in WMD studies at the Agency. The whole thing just doesn't pass the smell test, particularly when we hear from Andrea Mitchell that it was common knowledge around Washington that she worked at the CIA. It would not be common knowledge if she was undercover.
Who is the democrat she is protecting? Hillary, perhaps??
And now onto real news.
We have a space shuttle launch for the firs time in over two years on Wednesday.
A talking dog! This I gotta see!
I grudgingly respect Woodward making the point but in the final analysis Woodward is simply pointing out the obvious with some partisan rationale - the quick headlines/accusation will backfire and harm the left and future leakers.
He's covering his political soulmate's asses.
He knows.
He knows this is a manufactured controversy.
He knows the 'evidence' is being fabricated.
He knows that when (not if) this comes out his profession will be DESTROYED.
This is not altruism or any kind of devotion to "truth."
This is attributable to the best motive of all:
Enlightened self interest.
Woodward is a good reporter. He is probably somewhat left wing, but he's always been able to put aside his bias, at least more so then other reporters.
What I find interesting is the complete failure of the press to report that Wilson himself put his wife's name in his entry in Whos Who in America - that is, anyone who wanted to find out Wilson's wife's name only had to consult a common document. So if someone in White House said, "Wilson got the gig because his wife recommended him", it is Wilson himself who is resonsible for a reporter consulting Whos Who to report "Valerie Plame, Wilson's wife, .....".
David Gergen on Lou Dobbs also was reluctant to condemn Rove, and the latter kept questioning him just like King did with Woodward.
