Relatively long story. Good read.

Aren't they putting the Pashtun villagers in danger from the Taliban by telling this story?

Great story ... however, speaking as a former Marine I question why 1) the Navy has the SEALS ... they started off as UDT in WWII ... they were tasked with clearing enemy beach heads for amphibious operations. No problem. 2) OK, attribute it to mission creep ... but at least confine it to territory adjacent to large bodies of water. Afghanistan is landlocked so what the hell are Navy SEALs doing snooping and pooping in this neck of the woods? We have Marine Recon, Army Delta and Green Beret's ... so why a bunch of swabbies in a land locked environment? Go figure ...

This shepard, his family, and his entire village should be given full U.S. citizenship. Right now, today. They've earned it.

I have never been special forces, just a straight leg troop, and damn proud of it. I do know what it means to be a small group of men, surrounded and fighting for your life. I can't say enough how much I respect these men and am so happy that even one was able to survive.

I am also grateful that he was lucky enough (God's hand) to find the one shepherd to take him to safety.

I wonder though, why the Shepherd had to go back alone and get our wonder seal. That exposed our seal and the Shepherd to many hours in the open where they could have been captured and killed. Why didn't our guys go get him?

I too hope this brave man has been rewarded and is taken care of by our people.

A wonderful story, and one which belies the bigot's claim that Islam is a death cult, that this pious village should become a glass parking lot, ad nauseum.
