Great story ... however, speaking as a former Marine I question why 1) the Navy has the SEALS ... they started off as UDT in WWII ... they were tasked with clearing enemy beach heads for amphibious operations. No problem. 2) OK, attribute it to mission creep ... but at least confine it to territory adjacent to large bodies of water. Afghanistan is landlocked so what the hell are Navy SEALs doing snooping and pooping in this neck of the woods? We have Marine Recon, Army Delta and Green Beret's ... so why a bunch of swabbies in a land locked environment? Go figure ...

I would guess that it is because there is a high demand for all types of Special Forces the way warfare is today.
I think the swabbies can generally take care of themselves as well as any Special Forces teams. This sounds like bad luck.

so why a bunch of swabbies in a land locked environment? Go figure ... the four-man commando team found itself in the Afghan forests of Kunar province on June 28, maneuvering under low clouds and a drenching rain.
See there, maybe there were large bodies of water . . . .
