I think Imus will win this one. The Dr. should have taken the ride.

So listen to a nutjobs wife that has no medical skills or a nurse that says everythings fine. If there was slander to be made, then it should have been made against the nurse.

If no one in the emergency room says anyone is bleeding, and someone is, then is that also the doctors fault for not checking out everyone? I don't think so. If Im-an-ass threatened with a gun, thats assault.

Pearson left the main house and began a quarter-mile walk to the infirmary

That's 440 yards. There are hospitals where one can walk that distance just in the corridors.

If the kid was in that much agony why did they not use the car to bring the child to the doctor or stress how much pain she was in?

Obviously there are two sides, but I don't think choosing to walk makes him the "worst Doctor in the world."

"I think Imus will win this one. The Dr. should have taken the ride."

Really? Let's review Imus's statement.

"Imus said Pearson was called to treat "a 16-year-old girl from Afghanistan who had been up all night in abject agony and pain."

If that was true; why did Imus wait till the next day to summon the doctor? Surely, If Imus was that concerned, the doctor would have been ordered to be at the girls side that night as the doctor was only 440 yards away.

This is just another in a long line of staff treated poorly by Imus and then had their reputations damaged on air.

Review the story of Imus and his nanny: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/1130041imus1.html

My question is why is Imus at the ranch to begin with when he publically stated that he was allergic to the ranch in response to NY Attorney General's Office investigation into talk-show host using the 4,000-acre ranch for personal getaways.

Contradictory statement by Imus:

1) As to his holiday visits, he said, "I broadcast from here on Thanksgiving," said Imus. "I'm really trying to hide that," he quipped. Besides, he added, "I run the ranch, my wife and I run it. I could live out here every day if I felt like it." - http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1369779/posts

2) I've got a penthouse apartment in New York and a mansion in Westport (Conn.). Why would I go someplace that I can't breathe," said Imus, referring to medications he takes to help with breathing while he's at the ranch." See - http://www.westportnow.com/archives/011104.htm

The Dr. should have taken the ride.

Two people walk to a car, get in, Fasten seat belts, drive about 3 blocks, park, unfasten seat belts, get out, walk the rest of the way. OR walk directly about 3 blocks, without delay. Which is faster? It probably works out about the same. There is certainly not enough difference to justify coming after someone with a knife and a gun.

"I think Imus will win this one."

I wouldn't bet on that. Disparaging someone in their profession is one of the very few actionable areas of American defamation law. I imagine part of the case would be why was the doctor so far from th patients in the first place. As for the girl having been in pain all night, I'd question why the doctor wasn't called sooner.

This will be settled to the doctor's advantage, based on what's reported here, that's my guess.

A quarter mile? About 5 minutes, or the walk from the parking lot to most hospitals.

Imas is a major league A-hole. I hope he loses his ass.

We're talking about a 5-minute walk. In a non-emergency situation, treatment within 5 minutes is immediate treatment. Imus is wrong.
