Afghans sheltered SEAL from Taliban
CNN ^ | 11 July 2005

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Afghan villagers sheltered a U.S. Navy SEAL wounded in a battle last month with the Taliban until they could get word to American forces to rescue him, a military official said Monday.

The SEAL was part of a four-man reconnaissance team that went missing June 28 after calling for help during a firefight in the mountains near the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

The other three members of the team died in the fighting, and a MH-47 helicopter crashed as it brought reinforcements, killing all 16 people on board.

The military said it believes insurgents shot down the chopper.

Military officials said a rocket exploded near the surviving SEAL, knocking him off his feet and down a mountainside in steep terrain. He then managed to stay out of sight of the insurgents, officials said.

The commando suffered multiple leg wounds but was able to walk about two miles (three or four kilometers) through the mountains to get away, according to a U.S. military official, who insisted on anonymity.

An Afghan villager found the SEAL and hid him in his village, the official said.

According to military accounts, Taliban fighters came to the village and demanded the American be turned over, but villagers refused.

I'd be nice if you started hearing stories of the moderate ones killing the terrorists wouldn't it?

You can't read what the MSM doesn't write, or gets spiked by the editors.

What the heck do you think the troops of the new Afghan and Iraqi governments are doing, playing tiddly winks with the bad guys? In the Afghan case, they were fighting the Talibunnies and Al Queasies before we ever got there. In the Iraq case, the terrorists are trying to kill as many of them as they can, and they are responding in spades.

Rush estimated that of the worlds one Billion Muslims, maybe less than 1% are actively terrorists. That is still 10 million of the ignorant bastards, compared to 990 million that are not terrorists; but maybe we should NUKE Mecca, just in case. SARCASM.

US delight as Iraqi rebels turn their guns on al-Qa'eda By Oliver Poole in Qaim (Filed: 04/07/2005) American troops on the Syrian border are enjoying a battle they have long waited to see - a clash between foreign al-Qa'eda fighters and Iraqi insurgents.

Thats not what I said, "Good" muslims killing terrorists... :D

Tear down the Haram-al-Sharif mosques and make it a triple play. That will for sure make the dirty Mohammedans into good decent Christians. :snicker:

I'd think that it was more likely to turn the other 99% of the worlds one Billion Muslims against us, but whatever. Who needs em? We can make Iraq a democracy without them (sarcasm), we can defeat the Taliban without them(sarcasm), we don't need them to help us find Osama Bin Laudin (sarcasm), we don't need them to reform Lebanon from a Syrian puppet state (sarcasm), and we didn't need their help to rescue that SEAL- one SEAL could kill the entire Taliban army by himself without ammo (sarcasm).

And where are those wonderful Muslim's that live in this country? They have yet to take a stand on terrorism. I guess that the cat has their tongue's.

I found your tag line interesting and had never really thought on the point...Christ does a allow and recommend we be prepared to defend our self's...

Interestingly went Peter draws his sword and cuts of an ear in his zeal to prevent Jesus' imminent arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane and Jesus responds, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword" (Matthew 26:51-52)...their small point some miss (and in fact just dawned on me)... the disciple's of Christ carried swords in the first place....It would seen it's not the sword that the problem it's the how, when,& why you use it to defend and protect

My prediction is this whole episode will be made into a movie.

With the leader of the Taliban played by some handsome hunk, with a love interest that melts your heart and lets the world know that these 'freedom fighters' are OK afterall......gag....the ONLY way Demowood would portray it.

I'm wondering if the Afghan villagers will face reprisal because of this. It's world news now.

The same thought here. Being a Good Samaritan to an American solder can get you killed - especially if you can not keep it secrete. Damn, we and our MSM are frequently so stupid!
