Rove has had the media by the b*lls for a long time and this looks alot like payback. If the public perception turns again him (Rove) then he most likely will resign. Is a Rove resignation a big deal at this point? (not really).

9 out of 10 people in the media thinks this might be a story. 9 out of 10 people in the public are scratching their heads wondering why anyone really cares. It is not like Rove gave nuclear missile technology secrets to the Chinese.

Interesting how they did not mention any of the other sources for the story in Spikie's story.

"9 out of 10 people in the media thinks this might be a story"

9 out of 10 MSM media types WANT this to be a story. Their viewers however, want to know what happened to the girl in Aruba.

I'd like to see an investigation of how many Washington reporters knew that Valerie Plame got into a car and drove to Langley each and every morning. There was no secret there -- it was commonly known.

Can someone define "covert" in this discussion?

Apparently Valerie Plame :

1. used her real name.

2. worked in Washington.

3. was known by most everyone to be Joseph Wilson's wife.

4. was not averse to having her picture taken.

5. WAS NOT MAINTAING A "LEGEND", i.e. another identity.

Now what exactly was covert about her? That she worked in the Operations Directorate? Rove did't even tell the reporter what directorate she worked in or her name.

Can someone explain what law was even broken here?

Only the appearance of impropriety is needed to convict a Republican. A Democrat is not guilty until after a trial, and even then it is an over zealous political prosecution, and everyone does it.

There is a perception advanced by the media that there is a story here. Things that may work against Rove

1. Slow news week (London is already forgotten)
2. Supreme Court (no candidates picked yet)
3. A conclusive email or "leak" who points to Rove.

Rememeber that while he may be liked by the masses, I'm sure he has many enemies in the Repub party. Lets also not forget Max Cleland (sp) and other Democrats who've felt his sting. Believe me the knives are out.

In the conversation, Rove gave Cooper a "big warning" that Wilson's claims might not be entirely accurate and that it wasn't the director of the CIA or the vice president who sent Wilson on his trip. Rove apparently told Cooper that it was "Wilson's wife, who apparently works at the agency on WMD (weapons of mass destruction) issues who authorized the trip," according to a story in Newsweek's July 18 issue.

One of the big Democrat lies was that Plame was intentionally outed as a way of retaliating against Wilson. That explanation never made any sense, because even had that been the administration's goal, it would not have done any damage to Wilson. If you want an example of an administration scheming to damage a whistleblower, you have to look no further than what the Clinton administration did to Linda Tripp by illegally releasing her confidential employment records.

Rather, from the claim of what is contained in the Time material, it seems obvious that the intent was for reporters to dig into the real story of what was going on, namely a rogue, internal CIA plot to discredit the Bush administration by having Wilson perform his little bit of agitprop.

I do not why we are making big deal of this nothing story.

First Rove did not tell Cooper that “Wislon’s Wife” is an undercover CIA agent and he did not know she is an undercover CIA agent.

Second, Rove is not the source for the Bob Novak article that made Valerie Plame name public.

End of the nothing story.

"End of the nothing story."

I'm listening to Tony Snow. He just called it the Seinfeld of stories. All about nothing.

The liberals knives have been out hundred of times in the last 4 /12 years and every time they barely made a scratch to President Bush, his administration, or his policies. This time is no different. This is the one million time that liberals and their media whores get fake orgasms about some story where they have deluded themselves that it will destroy the Bush presidency, but as usual it will end up crushing on the wall of their bitter reality i.e. another utter defeat.

How this "outs" Plame is beyond me. It sounds like the petty nepotism that goes on all the time in bureaucracies. From what was said, Plame could have been a low level staffer who was exceeding her authority.

Wouldn't it be fun just once to see the press go after a Democrat with this kind of zeal?

"Andrea Mitchell was asked, on MSNBC, whether it was generally known to news people, before the hullabaloo, that Ms. Plame worked for the CIA. She answered, somewhat reluctantly, that it was."

This is ridiculous. both parties make arguments for "their guys" that even their guys don't make for themselves.
Sandy Berger did wrong and so did Rove. I'm sure Bush, Sr. is really happy with Rove .You can do things that are wrong without it being a crime. Our standards are pretty low if "no crime was committed" is the standard.
Nobody can call a spade a spade any more.

She wasn't a covert agent. That's one of the reasons Rove would have no idea that she was ~ Wilson seems to be the only guy around who thinks she's covert, and maybe that has to do with their sex life. He's married to her.

""Karl didn't disclose Valerie Plame's identification to anyone. That's not a technical statement. That's as practical and direct as I can make it.""

Either he means Rove didn't give the "wife" a name, or...
Cooper already knew about the wife.

I love how the MSM seems to find a way to take out the "A" in front of the source and and a "THE". And they wonder why no one trust them.
