Many FReepers were in the path of Hurricane Dennis--please check in to let us know you are safe.
Noneventful can be good--especially for this past weekend.
Now that's good news!
bump
These things just wear me out.
Kid's in Foley did just fine. Lost one tree and power for a short time. Now we are in that stall pattern in Memphis. Started raining and winds sometime in the night and is supposed to rain forever. So what is new in the South.??????
Ouch--seems the power companies are making real improvements in keeping utilities relatively intact.
HWY 98 was breached on Okaloosa Island again, and as of last night they were not letting anyone on the island
I have to wonder if this storm will prevent private development on the barrier islands now. It will be virtually impossible to obtain insurance.
Good news
I guess now everyone in Memphis will quit complaining about it being so dry. If it wasn't for the farmers, I would rather pay a water bill than have it wet all of the time.
Relieved here in central Alabama. Didn't even lose power! I figure it must be the new generator. My brother-in-law in Atmore got nailed, but he said it wasn't as bad as Ivan. A few trees down, but this time his church kept it's steeple.
It was pretty uneventful in north Tampa Bay yeasterday. We went to Clearwater Beach about 3pm with the kids for some waveboarding! What a blast. Some waves were approaching 10 ft.
Are you out of the tornado watch area now? All the tornado watches and warnings here lasted 27 hours. Every blasted time I tried to sleep, the weather alert alarm was screaming. I believe we had 4 tornado warnings between dawn Sat. morning and Sunday (eventually lost count).
Does anyone know how Panama City fared? We're supposed to go on vacation there in less than two weeks. The house we normally rent is right next to the Casa Loma. I'm thinking storm surge probably took it out, but have yet to hear anything for sure.
I see we have an above-average risk taker in the crowd...
;o)
Request for information about Gulf Breeze & Navarre...
Glad you got some sleep! Looks like rain here for the whole week. When FR went down, I thought it was because of the overload of freepers on this thread! Then I thought that we needed more bandwidth...especially w/other storms and the enevitable Senate "debates" on justice candidates coming up. Thank God (and the Robinsons), FR returned before I checked myself in to the looney bin.

Wife and I got run out of Destin on our honeymoon on 9/3/98 from Georges. No biggie, we were back at the condo the next day. The 28th would have been a Saturday, I know this because that is the day we got married.
You weren't the only one! Was singing "Windy" to blam when FR crashed.
Coastal Pasco county, Florida, checking in. Sun shining, palm fronds all around in neighborhood plus some small debris from yards that were not properly battened down. Nothing series at all.
The sun is shining and all's right with the world (at least till Emily picks up steam, hah).
