Many FReepers were in the path of Hurricane Dennis--please check in to let us know you are safe.
Well, duh. I sound like I'm the one who went without sleep, don't I?
I meant therapy!

Have you seen what is brewing in the Atlantic? We may have two more coming...
Oh, that's right--election next year.
Thanks again, NautiNurse, et al, for posting this thread and for your concern. It is appreciated.
Just returned from south east Alabama about an hour and a half ago. We were under a mandatory evacuation. Since I live right on Front Beach Road in Panama City Beach, I was expecting to see much more damage than I found. Amazingly, only two shingles on the north side of my house (two story) were damaged. The only palm branches down were rotten ones. Lots of small tree branches were blown down but other than that, just the usual debris and sand.
To my utter surprise and delight, all of my bee hives survived. None were blown over (I had placed cinder blocks on top of them). I cannot yet tell until I open them whether the bees remained in the hives or were sucked out by the winds. Hurricane Ivan devastated my hives last year so I am anxious to get a looksee.
I've no knowlege of how the rest of the beach and Panama City fared.
Has anyone heard from Blam?
I'm not sure why this Cat III storm didn't do as much damage as Ivan, but I am most thankful. Thanks again for the concern of all. Offering prayers for those who are suffering because of this storm.
miele man
blam has checked in--all is well.
I've not been paying too much attention today to the news.
The Florida GOP needs to get somebody to run against Nelson that can win.
I was doing some errands this AM and am always amazed at the amount of tree damage that is done by just a minor brush with a storm. The golf course has huge piles of debris stacked on the rough in many areas.
God forbid we ever have a "real storm" hit us. Probably every tree around will be uprooted.
Thanks - your experience mirrors earthquake insurance out here. If an aftershock gets deemed a "separate occurence", you're SOL and your deductible starts all over again.
Has the storm let up from this morning? Hope you are ok.
Thank you! No personal reports for us, yet. :(
Hoping you will check in with us soon.
Please check in with us when you are able.
Haven't seen any updates on the status of FEMA & NG & Red Cross getting into the harder hit smaller areas, like St. Marks.
I was looking for you on FR - it took me forever to remember what your FReepername was but I KNEW there was someone else in Navarre - glad you're safe.
Good deal.
Hope you get the little things cleaned up and back to normal as soon as possible.
Hang tough.
We got back the power tonight! Everything is fine. We survived, and our house survived the storm as well!!! :-D
The eye of the hurricane did not go through the Alabama/Florida stateline as Ivan did. The eye of Dennis was right above Escambia Bay which is just east of Pensacola. Probably that's why the winds caused less damage here in Pensacola. (See our photos)
Today I visited a friend who lives in east Pensacola, and his yard was in much worse shape than ours! His yard was full of branches, and one of his maple trees was lying on the ground flat! He has no power yet, because the power lines are on the ground as well... The walls of some buildings in east Pensacola were damaged by the wind. I saw some holes on the walls... Some homes were in pretty bad shape. But that's because they were right there in the eye wall of the hurricane! :-(
Glad to hear it. Bears and mites here, hive beetles and hurricanes down there. Honey is going to have a high wholesale price this year...
