what happened to roth's career as an EMT?

I am guessing nobody at Infinity heard David when he hosted a show in New York.
If he were a DJ in a small market he wouldn't be good enough to keep his job. He was totally awful.

Looks like he used about 3 cans to get "dressed":

That would be awesome. 'ZLX is an old standard, if a little tired.
I despise WBCN, and 'AAF since John Osterlind left.

Wow, one media giant replacing another giant whom I never listened to. It is all so impressive!

I used to enjoy Howard many, many years ago. Once he made that movie and wrote those two books, he became a phony like every other celebrity.
His TV program disgusts me. He is a 50 year old man child. Garbage, pure garbage.

If Infinity Broadcasting had any sense at all, they would immediately contact Doug Tracht (aka 'The Greaseman') who replaced Howard Stern at WWDC/DC101 in Washington D.C. back in the 80's.
Grease was Number One in that city for many many years, to the point that people were saying "Howard who?"
Now Grease screwed up a few years ago, and lost his big paying gig in DC (this was at another station as I recall) but he is a major talent and his strongest selling point (if I were hiring air talent) is that he is just as outrageous and entertaining (if the word 'entertaining' can be used) as Howard Stern, but WITHOUT the crass obscenities, vulgarities and profanities.
Ask a native of Jacksonville Florida what they think of The Greaseman (back in the day when he was the BMOTA at WAPE-AM, aka 'The Big Ape'.
Grease has all of the class that Howard could ever aspire to.

So, is this Dumb and Dumber, or "out of the frying pan . . . "?

If I were PD at a big market radio station, I would be looking frantically for a good morning show because a hole will be opening up:
(1) Stern's ratings have been dependent on his reputation for some time now.
(2) His replacement on broadcast will be either a celebrity (Roth) who knows nothing about radio or a DJ with no name recognition (or both).
(3) Pushing the envelope and controversy always invigorated Stern and his listeners who wanted to hear how he would stick it to the FCC next. It isn't as much fun when you can do whatever you want.
(4) Stern depends a lot on the watercooler factor: "Did you hear Howard this morning?" None of that on satellite, because the casual commuter isn't going to bother with a subscription. King of all media, master of none.

What happens when David Lee Roth goes off the deep end? Will they bring in Sammy Hagar?
To: Mad Mammoth
The thing is, lots of DJ's don't work in syndication. In Dallas Russ Martin beat Stern handily, but he knows better than to get syndicated, because you have to change your act so much that you end up losing your edge.
The guys that can be huge on a national basis are few and far between.

The problem with Stern is when he started out he was doing something new, now it`s the same old crap over and over and over and over.

This is a terrible idea. I guess they think that having a mouth that works and an audience that doesn't is all it takes to succeed.
