The mayor of New Orleans

I hope he dodges a bullet, but I don't see how the city can go unscathed.

I would not like to be within 300 miles of Dennis, and below sea level.

The tree was established when I bought the house. It's about 30ft tall. I fertilize it as much as the citrus trees--yummy!

Evacuating New Orleans is practically impossible. Last year the trip from NO to BR normally an hour was taking 9 or 10 hours. It is a far more difficult task than one might imagine. And all day, they have said Florida. all those models are getting tighter and tighter.

I pity the Gulf, Florida and Alabama. But if it hit NO, it would be with a big loss of life.

If you pick the right variety and the right micro-climate, you can get avocados to bear as far north as Charleston, South Carolina. You may have some winter die-back, but they will bear.

A lot of people want to experience a hurricane. I did. Sounded neat.

Blizzard party - yes. Survived many.

Hurricane party - no. Never have, never will, don't want to.

Stay safe.

Thank God .. that's excellent news. Depressing part will be coming back and seeing the devastation .. again. In the aftermath of Andrew, 30% left forever .. big chunk of the population just moved out.

That's incredible .. it survives frost. I lost a couple of trees in an unusually frosty winter down there.

How does a person with an IQ off of the radar not have common sense???????

They evidently have a plan, I know, if it were my kid, I would be frantic. How close to the coast are they?

I agree with you completely. It is only a matter of time before NO (and BR) are struck. The building codes here (what we have of them) are in no way comparable to the strict hurricane codes they have in Florida. I fear there will be massive destruction. Our long-term hope is that science will find a way to tame these phenomena. Short-term it is really just a matter of luck.
