We really liked the Anna Maria area when we vacationed there.
Actually, it is quite medium sized.
Aw Geesh, I hope not. Strange thing, though. The butterflies are acting wierd. Several extremely large black swallowtails and smaller monarchs have been hanging around the doors, trying to get in the house. Maybe they know something we don't? Doubt they have anything as good as Free Republic, though.
You guys shock me! I would be freaking out SOOOOOOOO much!!!!!
This storm is smaller than pretty much all of the storms from last year save Charley....
Charley wound up VERY quickly in the gulf of Mexico just before landfall....
this one still has some time....
Enjoy your debate and commentary on Fox. Keep up the great work!
Haven't watched CNN since much earlier today. I'm getting most of my television from the Mobile local TV stream. And thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Everyone I'm hearing from (e-mail, phone and otherwise) really got a kick out of it...
That does not look good. According to other posters there, the last cat 5 to hit the gulf coast was Camille.
This will be a tremendous disaster if Dennis even comes close to cat 5 strength.
I heard that. We're near the Skyway and supposedly this AM there was one down our way, but I haven't heard of any damage.
Check the front page of the local paper.

There are weather links to local radar too.
Got lucky on our week, went to Jamaica, Grand Caymen, and Cozumel one week after Arlene and 2 weeks before Cindy.
CWW has Cloverdale covered, I have the Pike Road area reports ready to roll, and you have Tallassee covered.
The Central Alabama weather service is up and running.
And the most frightening thing....
according to Trish Regan at CBS (hot little woman right there.....how she got to the network level graduating in 1999 is almost unheard of).....anyway....very few were taking the warnings in Biloxi seriously.
Most stayed. I hope more are leaving now.
Hiya Stranger! ltns--good to see you again.
the inner core is small but the size of the whole storm is rather large..and getting larger
I was watching weather channel earlier, showing piles of crap from last season still to be cleaned up.
Amazing.
Thoughts and prayers from me to all of you folks down there.
LVM
Raining hard at Turner Field now. It's gone five official innings so the Brewers are stalling for time and the Braves are trying to keep playing.
Camille is the only CAT 5 to hit the gulf Coast.
Rolling thunder, lightning and driving rain just started here in Central Florida in the past 10 minutes. It has just been fast moving clouds all day until now.
Wait about 5 minutes. I'm in Navarre and we just got hit with a major band of clouds. The wind went from about 5 kts to about 20 kts in less than a minute, and the temperature dropped about 15 degrees in about 20 seconds.
ouch...
here check out this one....
