Thanks so much for posting those links, Jonny. Do you know if Tammy or her family ever wrote to the White House about her dad's courageous effort to vote for GWB? I had suggested that to her at the time, and she said they were thinking about it. Heck, I might consider doing it for her now.

That last link that jonny posted of the "Day in the life thread" shows that she did send the pic of her dad. I had asked her on that thread if the White House had responded to the pic yet and she said she had not heard back from them. Also that her minister had sent the WH some pics. as well of her dad. I have been so upset today. Tammy was one of the freepers I looked forward to seeing on the threads. I didn't know her well but was looking forward to getting to know her better over the years. I cannot imagine how heartbroken her family must feel to have her snatched from them so quickly.

Could one of you very savvy freepers help me out? I am in need of a picture showing runners going to a finish line. We are writing our own curriculum for VBS this year. We have titled it The Amazing Race (titled for the t.v. show) and we are using the verse Heb.12:1-2 about running the race with perserverance. I would like to have a picture of a runner to help the children learn the verse. Thank you.

And she doesn't look like a candidate for gastric by-pass either.

It's hard to judge from a picture, but that's what I thought too. I go to a diabetes center and while they don't advocate gastric bypass for patients, some of them have the operation because it technically gets rid of the diabetes (the person is still diabetic and symptoms will retrun if they gain the weight or eat a high carb diet). People who get the operation for this reason are often not as big as those getting it for extreme obesity. Maybe she got the operation thinking it would solve some other problem? This is such sad news.

I am hoping I will eventually get better at using this thing.! That was a logical way to find the pics. but obviously I do not always use logic. :( Oh well...are you doing the thread tonight or is it Gretchen's night? I have been anxious for it today so I can make sure to tell everyone how much I love them and how much these trips to Freeperland mean to me. I received quite a shock today finding out about texasflower... It was not the way I wanted my day to start out. :( My oldest is away for the first time at camp, and so I was already melancholy and then to find out we all lost such a special person was too much. I have cried off and on all day.

I had it happen one other time when the site was down for an extended period of time. Someone later explained about how to go to the alternative site, but then when it happened this weekend, I had forgotten how to 'go there.'

My big question is:

Can you only go there to verify that the site is down and it is not your own computer, or,

When you go there, people can actually post to one another and read threads?

In other words, when you say 'salve our craving' what is one able to do and not do?

Thanks much if you have a chance to respond!

It's an information site, with posting .. but that's the first place you'll see a post that says "FR is down" usually, and people usually answer back with their location and they can't get on either. It's a full posting site, just like this, and posting was going on for hours there when this was down.

Oh MY!!!

And I tried for 7-8 hours, off and on, to log in to the regular site while 'those in the know' were still having fun on a Sunday (weekend) afternoon at the alternative site!

I wouldn't call it fun .. but it's better than nothing when this place is down. It's still Yahoo Groups .. not Free Republic.
