ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Someone urinated in the holy water at a suburban Rochester, N.Y., Catholic church.
Four local teens have been charged with that and other vandalism.
Monroe County sheriff's deputies said the teenagers smashed wine bottles against the walls, left bicycle skid marks on the carpet, emptied the fire extinguishers and burned cigarette holes in the Saint Pious X Church.
The damage is estimated at $17,000.
Charged are 18-year-old Dan Seklar, 17-year-old Richard DeCarolis, 16-year-old Michael Street and a 15-year-old who is being charged as a juvenile. All are charged with burglary and criminal mischief, both felonies.
The boys have been released to their parents.
not only that but you had character and never would have dared to do something so despicable. I would be so ashamed if these were my kids. Oh well, what they did they will pay for when they meet their maker. Trouble is they don't believe in their maker or they wouldn't have done this in the first place. They'll find out.
How about releasing them to Cardinal Law. Since they like exposing themselves, I'm sure he'll know exactly what to do to them ;-)
Actually, given how screwed up the diocese of Rochester appears to be these days, it is not at all clear that the "boy" wasn't simply engaging in some sort of alternative liturgical practices...
I wonder what they would get if they had defiled a MUSLIM place? A beheading or two perhaps?
Great idea!
I sympathize with this parish.
I'm afraid the 8th Amendment gets in the way of your plan.
It takes a (liberal) village to raise children with this type of respect for religion.
If I did something like that as a teenager, I would be begging the judge to keep me in jail. I would be scared for my life after my parents were done with me.
Urinated in the holy water?
That's fellows, grab your torches and your sledgehammers, we're gonna have a riot!
Wait, wait - I forgot - we really are a Religion of Peace.
Let em off clean if they spend a little time at a local Mosque. The ACLU will take it from there.
To any thinking person, it would serve as a perfect example of a "hate crime."
To the ACLU types, it's artistic expression.
Well .. you know these young people have to be allowed to express themselves .. [/s]
Quick. Let's follow the 'peaceful' example of our Moslem brothers and riot in the streets!!!!!
Riot in the streets? I think a couple of us could blow ourselves up in a neighborhood Mosque over something like this? Hell someone out here has to feel the call? sarc
Unless this was a black church, there's no problem here.
Sadly, it's almost refreshing to see outsiders take the initiative in vandalizing Catholic churches; the Bishops can't have all the fun. At least the "kids" intentions were as obvious as their actions.
I note there is a google result for Dan Seklar Rochester, NY - not sure if it the same one, but he lives only a couple miles away from St Pius X
All of them should be treated harshly
