"She was so unknown that she had a feature in Vanity Fair. It covered post partum psychiatric problems shed had, and was advising others about. Not exactly the low profile one expects of a CIA spy."So, did the Vanity Fair article mention she was a CIA employee?
And if not, what is the point of even mentioning it?

Perhaps an even more relevant question here would be, was a crime even committed?
In "outing" Miss Plame, that is?

At the last minute, she asked to be sent to a better lock-up. Press reports did not indicate whether it was the accommodations or the companionship in the standard D.C. lock-up which was beneath her standards. She was shipped off to the Alexandria detention center. I pass by it every day on my way to work (you can see it from I-95 on the DC beltway). IIRC it's also Moussaoui's digs.

The Wilfred Brimley character in "Absence of Malice" explained this clearly to Sally Field's attorney - "The privilege doesn't exist". I loved that character:
"A LEAK?? You call what's been going around here a LEAK? Boy, the last time there was a leak like this Noah built hisself a BOAT!"
"Come sundown there's going to be two things true that aren't true right now. One is that the United States Department of Justice is going to find out what in the Good Christ (excuse me) is going on here. And the second is I'm going to have somebody's ass in my briefcase!"

I wonder if Susan McDougal gave her tips for surviving prison.

One question. I remember reading way back when, that Victoria Plame was known before the original article came out, and her name was no secret. I can't remember exactly how.

Whoa! Miller's source released her from confidentiality, too, and she still won't tell?
Methinks somebody's grandstanding.

Yep, I remember that scene well and fondly. And Brimley said, "I have some subpeeenees in my briefcase...."
Notice to all: there is an error in the column as it appears here. Joseph Wilson IV went to Niger, not Nigeria, and the proper capitol city is Niamey, not Lagos. This correction will be made in the official, published column.
I thank two eagle-eyed Freepers for noting this mistake of mine.

She was in Who's Who. It identified her employer, too.I'm no lawyer, but doesn't that negate any possible criminal charges?

That's how it looks to me, too. The jail should charge her for room and board.

The MSM did this to themselves. Now they want a "National Shield Law."
