Small correction: it was Niger, not Nigeria. Thought you'd like to know.

"It covered post partum psychiatric problems shed had,"
Would venture to speculate that the CIA didn't want Plame acknowledge that she was crazy so the CIA got her off the public payroll fast.
To: Right Wing Professor
Yours is the fourth set of sharp FreeRepublic eyes that caught that correction. Thanks. Already sent the correction to my publishers, both ink and electrons.

You think she's her own source?

You think she's her own source? I think she made up the fact that she had a source.
Now she can't name it, because if it differs from what Novak and the other reporter say, she is up the river on a perjury charge.
There is no way a reporter for the New York Times would go to jail to protect someone in the Bush Administration, especially when his name is going to come out anyway, and he has reportedly already released them from confidentiality.

Whoa! Miller's source released her from confidentiality, too, and she still won't tell?Depends which source for which story. If her Plame source released her, I think she would tell that; but if they want to know the source who tipped her off about an impending raid on a phony Islamonazi "charity", maybe THAT source is afraid he/she'll be exposed as trying to damage our national security...

Where is this same investigation regarding the fake Bush National Guard memo that was a forgery, with intent to manipulate the most important US election?
Why are news people not being forced to reveal sources here?
Selective enforcement.

Apparently, the sources whod talked to both these reporters on the subject of Ms. Plame had signed waivers allowing the reporters to speak.
So when does Joe Sixpack get to see the names of these sources? I haven't seen anything yet about who these sources are. If they waived their "protection" then why can't their names be released to the public?
It would be interesting to see whether or not they are Clinton holdovers or just entrenched bureaucrats!

No one is being prosecuted for publishing secrets. The 1st Amendment prevents that.
But the 1st gives the press no right to engage in criminal activies, such as conspiracy or theft, to get a story. To carry this to its (il)logical conclusion, a journalist cannot commit murder with impunity to get a story.

I trust that you have read Cliff Kincaid's column in Accuracy in Media, "Why Judith Miller Should Stay in Jail", in which he posits that perhaps she, who did NOT write a column about Plame, is herself the leak to other reporters. The NYT's rank hypocrisy in first advocating an independent prosecutor and now stonewalling the investigation is also a part of his column.
