Muslims anxious at bomb reprisals (Muslims urged not to go out alone)
BBC ^ | 8 July, 2005

Posted on 07/08/2005 7:28:12 AM PDT by phoenix_004

Scotland's Muslims are telling one another not to go out alone following the London bomb attacks, according to a spokesman for the community. Osama Saeed, Scottish spokesman for the Muslim Association of Britain, voiced his sorrow at the "outrage".

Muslims were advising each other not to go out alone, particularly women who could be identified by their headscarves, he said.

The death toll from the series of explosions is now at least 50.

Religious leaders across Glasgow are to come together and issue a multi-faith statement on Friday afternoon.

Representatives of the Jewish, Sikh and Hindu communities, along with the Glasgow Churches Together organisation, will made the address at the United Nations tree in Queens Park.

Muslim reaction

Osama Saeed said there had been fears in the Muslim community after attacks in New York and Madrid, and that this had been heightened because the London bombings were closer to home.

"In the immediate aftermath there is a lot of emotion, but the vast majority of people in this country can make the distinction between the mindless activities of a few extremists and the vast majority of people of the Muslim faith," he said.

The Muslim community has condemned outright, without reservation, what has happened in London

Most people can make the distinction, but the fear is that the right wing fringe groups try to make some capital out of this for their own ends.

"The immediate advice Muslims are giving one another is do not go out unaccompanied, particularly Muslim women identified by their headscarves," he said.

He said that the Muslim community's prayers went to those who had suffered and died and their friends and families.

"If, as is being indicated, Muslims were behind these heinous acts, they should know that this has nothing to do with the religion of Islam which holds the sanctity of life as paramount.

"Nothing can justify the harming of innocents," he added.

'Heinous crimes'

That message was echoed by Scotland's representative on the Muslim Council of Britain, Bashir Maan.

"The community has condemned outright, without reservation, what has happened in London," he said.

"This is totally un-Islamic. Islam does not allow you to kill innocent people, and killing one person is like killing the whole human race.

We will respond robustly to any antagonism towards them

Lothian and Borders Police

"I don't know what motivates people to carry out such heinous crimes."

He said a "terrorist clique" had given Muslims a bad name and that the message needed to go out that the community condemned such acts.

"We have got a good relationship with the local community here. The Muslim community is very small and very well integrated.

"There is always a risk (of reprisals), but I hope Scotland will be fine."

Police contact

Lothian and Borders Police promised to support the Muslim community.

A spokesman said: "Local Muslims are very loyal and law-abiding citizens who have no sympathy with extremist terrorists responsible for the London bombs.

"We understand that they may feel very vulnerable but we have been in touch to reassure and support them.

"We will respond robustly to any antagonism towards them. We would appeal to people not to get involved in misguided victimisation and respect their rights."

Let's hope they get REAL ANXIOUS! -- anxious enough to clean up their ranks or risk expulsion from the countries they prey upon...

Well Osama should talk to his namesake and his cohorts about living in a civilized world.

Funny how they don't get concerned until they are afraid of retribution.

Amazing. 50+ Brits dead, hundreds more wounded, and the Muslim community is ready to claim 'victim' in all of this.

These statements mean little to me right now. However, if the Muslim community organized a large-scale peaceful protest to show their solidarity against their murderous cousins, that would be a step in the right direction. Fat chance of that happening, I'm afraid.

Sorrow for the "outrage"? HUH????
What about sorrow for the Muslim behavior and it's victims? He's feeling "sorrow" for himself and his followers because people are angry????

This is like Clinton voicing "sorrow" for getting impeached instead of sorrow over what he actually did!

I couldn't agree more!

If the Muslim community would "take out their trash" there wouldn't be a problem. PERIOD!

But as long as the so called moderate Muslim community refuses to come out against the terrorism and refuses to remove these monsters from their community they will continue to be on the "undesirable lists" in the world.

And you can take this to the bank, one more 9/11 type terrorist attack in America and the entire Muslim community will have to pack up and go back to whatever hellhole they originated from because Americans will be fed up with the entire lot of them and the idiocy and barbarism in their ranks!

Following the axiom that the best defense is a good offense Osama projects Islamofascist intolerance onto the host community.

don't blame the muslims - blame their enablers - the left, their political leaders who are telling them the air conditioning at Gitmo is too low and they are being "tortured" daily, their media, and their organizations like the ACLU and Amnesty. and add to that, politicians on the right who fail to confront the left on these issues.

I am so sick of their manipulative whining.

I want to know why these "moderate Muslims" didn't throw the jihadis out of the Finsbury Park mosque, why they didn't object to the "Magnificent 19" celebration of the 9/11 attacks, and why Captain Hook was allowed to continue his agitation for two freakin' years!

If they are so "terrified for their lives" I suggest they go to an Islamic country of their choice, or else demand that the authorities build internment camps safe refuge facilities.

Nothing amazing...part of the Islamist playbook response. Infidels dead? Issue a statement of how terrified you are about reprisals!

And why would a good Muslim woman go outside, anyway, with or without her slaverag? She ought to stay at home and wait for her husband to come home and beat her.

So the supposed regular Muslim community which claims to NOT be radical says they are afraid of the terrorists and therefore don't speak out against terror.

To me that is called passive enabling of the terrorists and IMO it also grows new terrorists since there are no mainstream leaders speaking out against this stuff daily.

So, at what point do we all have to make the leaders more afraid of us than the terrorists so they all stand up to denounce terror everywhere?
Seems to me that until these moderates (HA HA HA) get vocal, there isn't the progress and change in their culture and religion that is needed.

Makes you wonder how many of these moderates (HA HA HA) are actually cheering on the terrorists?

Do the terrorists and those that agree with them in the Muslim world represent 5% or more like 85%? I bet the higher number is closer to accurate IMO.

If we just had the cajones to do it now, we would not have to suffer another 9/11 -- and that includes closing our borders LIKE EVERY OTHER SANE COUNTRY DOES.

Does anyone know what happens to white Christians (man, woman or child) that go out alone in let's say.... anywhere in Saudi Arabia?

Maybe they should warn everyone about that instead? Seems like it is more realistic given the current events.

The BBC making some capital of its own.

The hard left BBC also functions as an Islamofascist propaganda mechanism by propagating Islamofascist demands.

Massive hunt for London bombers ~~ name of a Moroccan man, Mohamed Guerbouzi appears in blogs

The statement said the attacks were revenge for the "massacres" Britain was committing in Iraq and Afghanistan and that the country was now "burning with fear and panic".

It warned Denmark and Italy they faced similar attacks if they did not withdraw their troops from the Middle East.

well if you have read any of my posts over the past threee years regarding immigration you would know that I am a HUGE supporter of securing the borders AND PORTS!

To spend BILLIONS fighting a war and securing the borders in Korea, Afghanistan & Iraq and to leave our own front AND back doors WIDE OPEN is INSANE!!!

and if we are hit again, W can been over and kiss his legacy good bye because it will be totally his fault for failing to secure the borders for almost FOUR FRIGGIN' YEARS!

Kelly

Nearly everyone in Britain is intelligent enough to realize that reprisals against innocent people isn't going to accomplish anything. Now, in other parts of the World, they do things differently.
