LONDON, July 7 - It is said, usually as a kind of joke, that a day is a long time in politics. Rarely has that been so true - and so bloodily so - as in the past 24 hours of Prime Minister Tony's Blair's roller coaster ride from triumph to tragedy.

Then, toward midday, the doubts were over: London had been struck by terrorists. Mr. Blair flew back to London, somber and shaken.
Perhaps the crudest lesson to be drawn was that, in adopting the stance he took after the Sept. 11 attacks, Mr. Blair had finally reaped the bitter harvest of the war on terrorism - so often forecast but never quite seeming real until the explosions boomed across London.
The war in Iraq has been increasingly unpopular here, with taunts that Mr. Blair had become President Bush's poodle. The anger about Iraq led to Mr. Blair's shaky showing in the May elections: a third term with a severely reduced majority. Now, as long predicted and feared, his support of the war appears to have cost British lives at home. Thursday was a day of rallying behind the leader, but there were indications that the bombing could take a political toll.
No mainstream politician would say so out loud, but George Galloway, the maverick, onetime Labor legislator who had met with Saddam Hussein before the Iraq war, had no hesitation. "We argued, as did the security services in this country, that the attacks on Afghanistan and Iraq would increase the threat of terrorist attack in Britain," he said. "Tragically, Londoners have now paid the price of the government ignoring such warnings."

In other words, has Iraq and his alliance with President Bush returned yet again to haunt him, as it did in the elections?
***Mod note: The New York Times has changed the title of this article to Blair's Rising Star Runs Into a Treacherous Future.
Howard Dean actually sounded human when he made a statement about the London bombings earlier today - even he didn't blame President Bush. Having said that, I expect he's been getting ripped non-stop all day by MoveOn, Daily Kos and the DUmp, so I expect he'll be changing his tune tomorrow. Still, for the NYT to be outclassed by Dean is just inexcuseable.
I'll bet their lead editorial tomorrow directly pins the blame for this attack on Abu Ghraib and Gitmo. By Sunday, I'll bet the NYT and all the Dims on the talk shows will be demanding that George Bush apologize to the British people for causing the bombings.
"The photo of Blair standing in front of Bush and Chirac, and the other leaders was a pretty defiant scene."
I remember President Bush after 9/11, and people knew right away that he was going to start kicking EVERYONES ass with statements like: Dead or alive, we hunt them down in their caves, we will bring justice to them, and (standing over the WTC) I hear you and pretty soon they will hear all of us. We knew the terrorist were going to pay dearly. I didn't get that same message from Tony Blair. He seem afraid. His voice was weak. I hope I'm wrong.
On May 23, 2005 in london, a group of muslims said that British blood was going to run in the streets. They chanted "death to Tony Blair, death to President Bush, Nuke DC". They were a large group standing in the street promising to kill Brits, and this was allowed. They kept their promise.
Look it up May 23, 2005 - London. They said it... they did it!

Sucking the air out of a socialist is impossible..
I've seldom read anything as disgusting as the first part of this article.
Or, to paraphrase a Brit Minister I read, this reporter has already dipped his poison pen in the blood of the English slain.
If I weren't so peace-loving I'd be be advocating a necktie party for most of the NYT's "Journalists" about now.

Do you have a link? I can find some references to demonstrations around that time where they burned US and British flags, and burned a cross, but it would be interesting how many specific indications there were indicating the participants knew about plans for this.
Maybe the brits will wake up to the scum in their midst:

Maybe the brits will wake up to the scum in their midst:
Do you honestly think it's any different in the USA? Bet you'll find they are building more mosques and invading us on a larger scale than in the UK. We are kissing their arses in the name of diversity. We can expect the same, only on a much larger scale.
"Do you have a link?"
I couldn't find a link, but I didn't look very hard. The radio program Micheal Savage played a replay of the muslims chating their blood threats in London it was a protest on May 23, 2005. I'm sure it could be found.

So the choice is what, capitulation?
Not much different, for sure. But here they are not so direct, and we don't often see them dressed up in hoods burning US flags and crosses. Presumably in at least some sections of the US this would not be so well accepted/supported as the london "demonstrations."
But you're right, we are being invaded by the same scum, and are also way too tolerant about it.
Did Bill cut his vacation short? I had the impression he was out all week.
"Do you honestly think it's any different in the USA?"
It is different in the USA. I live in Northern California and a father and son just got arrested in Lodi, CA on the asumption they are terrorist.
We wouldn't let a bunch of ragheads say that our blood was going to flow in the street without sending them to jail (muslims in London promised blood would flow in the streets on May 23, 2005, and they kept their promise).

A British defense expert says Thursday's bombings in London were executed by at least 24 people and designed to mirror bombings last year in Madrid.
According to Italian media explosive and detonators for Madrid attack came from Bosnia. According to Croatian sources terrorist were trained in Bosnia where they get logistical support. According to Spanish sources Al- Qaeda chiefs in Spain maintained close and friendly relations to muslim Bosnia, which was used as launching pad for this and many other terrorist attacks. Zenica, for example, was and steel is important field of training for muyahidin.
38 people have been implicated in Madrid terrorist attack so far and 24 of them are directly charged. Of that number 1/3 fought in Bosnia where they acquired knowledge needed for 3/11. They probably got Bosniaks passports, like recently killed head of Al-Qaeda in Saudi Arabia..
I have little doubt than, when dust settles we will find that Bosnian muslim were instrumental in organizing and executing this attack. Crimes like London bombing were possible because third-rate failed politicians like Paddy Ashdown are pursuing politics of brotherhood and unity with muslim terrorist.

Western states have choice to continue this suicide politics of or they can wake up and smell the coffee.
It is not in fact possible for there to be any peace or coexistence between 'the Islamic Religion' and non-Islamic social and political institutions."
Alija Izetbegovic - Islamic Declaration, 1970
And they're not spouting that in the mosques in the USA? Sorry buddy, but we are more PC than England. Besides that, they don't have MILLIONS of people infiltrating their borders unchecked. Our time is coming for an attack that will make this attack and even 9/11 look relatively small.
Don't get me wrong here, I am in no way advocating an attack, I'm simply being a realist.
Take a look at the latest reports about security at our nuclear power plants. It's worse than before 9/11 and there seems to be little outrage with it. They found 50 illegal immigrants working on an Air Force base in North Carolina. Thousands of illegal from dozens of nations(including the middle East) are entering the USA daily. We are spending BILLIONS on airport security and ignoring the larger threats that can potentially kill hundreds of thousands of people. Don't know about you, but this really worries me.
The very act of living in a free society dissuades most rational people from harming the USA. We limit the scope of our WOT because there are 1 billion muslims. This does not mean our leadership fails to see the big picture. Only a fool declares war with inferior resources. It's called strategery. Kill off the enemy without adding to his forces...and for God's sake don't tip your hand when you are winning. I'm sure glad you are not in charge.
We can expect the same, only on a much larger scale.
Time has proven you wrong. It has been 4 years since 911 without attack on our shores. Perhaps you think Bin Laden hasn't yet thought about attacking the USA directly. I guarantee you he has tried and failed many times since 2001.
It sounds as though you; "Know thine enemy"
Tell me something, when was the last time you lived amongst the Muslim people(like in their country)? Have you ever studied their ideology?
I've done both. I don't consider myself an "expert" on Islam, but I can tell you that we are dealing with a highly educated and idealogic group of people her that have vowed to conquer the free world. They won't be successful, but I can assure you that they are not only willing to die trying, but also that they will sccrifice every ounce of blood and energy that they have trying.
Good to know that we're still batting a thousand. You and I have never agreed on anything.
