As journalists scrambled to cover the London bomb blasts, ordinary citizens went online to share pictures snapped by cameraphones and reports of what they saw. At Technorati.com, a search engine for blogs, eight of the top 10 searches Thursday were related to the blasts. Here's a round-up of the accounts and photos. Check back throughout the day for updates.
The British newspaper The Guardian solicited firsthand accounts of the blasts from those who were there. Responses poured in from people like Matina Zoulia, who wrote, "As I was going towards the exit there was this smell. Like burning hair. And then the people starting walking out, soot and blood on their faces. And then this woman's face. Half of it covered in blood. How can you just carry on with your day?"

The BBC News Web site also invited readers to send in their own stories. Among the stories from terrified witnesses, one passenger recalled being evacuated from a train. "The sight of the injured, blackened with soot, dirt and covered with blood, is a vision that will stay with me for a long time," he wrote.
At Yahoo Inc.'s photo-sharing site Flickr.com, hundreds of snapshots of the blasts' aftermath appeared in groups like The London Bomb Blasts Pool and The London Explosions Pool. Among them: One subway station being evacuated, and the gates of another subway entrance hastily wrapped closed with tape. One eerie cameraphone snapshot from another site showed subway riders underground in a haze of smoke. The photographer is said to be safe, according to comments on the blog where the photo was posted."
