PRESIDENT BUSH: I spent some time recently with the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, and had an opportunity to express our heartfelt condolences to the people of London, people who lost lives. I appreciate Prime Minister Blair's steadfast determination and his strength. He's on his way now to London here from the G8 to speak directly to the people of London. He'll carry a message of solidarity with him.
This morning I have been in contact with our Homeland Security folks. I instructed them to be in touch with local and state officials about the facts of what took place here and in London, and to be extra vigilant, as our folks start heading to work.
The contrast between what we've seen on the TV screens here, what's taken place in London and what's taking place here is incredibly vivid to me. On the one hand, we have people here who are working to alleviate poverty, to help rid the world of the pandemic of AIDS, working on ways to have a clean environment. And on the other hand, you've got people killing innocent people. And the contrast couldn't be clearer between the intentions and the hearts of those of us who care deeply about human rights and human liberty, and those who kill -- those who have got such evil in their heart that they will take the lives of innocent folks.
The war on terror goes on. I was most impressed by the resolve of all the leaders in the room. Their resolve is as strong as my resolve. And that is we will not yield to these people, will not yield to the terrorists. We will find them, we will bring them to justice, and at the same time, we will spread an ideology of hope and compassion that will overwhelm their ideology of hate.
Thank you very much.
This is a sad reminder that we are still in a war against terrorism, and the ideology that fuels it. The left would like us to forget that fact. And this isn't a "clash of civilizations;" it's a clash between civilization and barbarism.
I know Bush was being statesmanlike when he said this but, we all know for a fact that some of the people in that room and the governments they represent love Al-Qaeda, Saddam and the rest.
Unfortunately, what we need from our "leaders" is a call to a New Crusade but we'll never get it. Everybody wants to do this piecemeal, like putting out separate fires. That won't work.
Blah..blah..blah..blah..blah....Would you please untie the one hand behind our back and unleash the MOABs and fighter jets...Sir? Drop them on sand huts..I dont care just start dropping.
Isaiah 59
11 We roar all like bears, and mourn sore like doves: we look for judgment, but there is none; for salvation, but it is far off from us.
12 For our transgressions are multiplied before thee, and our sins testify against us: for our transgressions are with us; and as for our iniquities, we know them;
13 In transgressing and lying against the LORD, and departing away from our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood.
14 And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.
15 Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.
16 And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore his arm brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.
17 For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloak.
18 According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence.
19 So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.
21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.
They have turned these horrific attacks in London into a Bush/ Blair bash. It's nothing short of shameful.... they are so blinded by their hate that they can't bring themselves to express the empathy with all of Britain, that is so necessary today.
Just reading their comments, almost makes me despair for this magnificent country of ours.
Very good...thanks for your posting the word
We can argue that the differences between the NYC and London attacks is due to the anti-terrorism efforts made and our efforts in Iraq. If London involved suicide bombers, then it was al Qaida. But, if it involved "packages," then my bet is that it was some insane freak group, anti-fox hunting, save the hedgehogs, Paris should have gotten the Olympics, Up the IRA or some other lunatics that did it. If it was al-Qaeda, they've stopped thinking big and that's a very good thing.
Bin Laden is not the only terrorist in the world threatening the US. He's just one of many. Maybe you'd rather fight terrorists in your hometown?
