I think Rush goes from radical humility to egotist sometimes. Anyway, I love the guy and he's had a huge impact on my life.

Everything you posted is irrelevant to the fact that Britain contributed to the modern state of Israel. Why did you go through the trouble of posting that minutia? You cited a few cases of British sins against Israel. Even if they are true (and I believe they are) do they negate the role Britain played in the foundation of modern day Israel? No. Did I ever, in my previous posts on this thread, say that Britain was blameless? I challenge you to cite any nation (or any human beyond Jesus Christ) who is sinless.

Most of Europe harassed, killed, and tortured Jews. This is no secret. I don't defend it--how could anyone?

Britain still played a role in the creation of modern day Israel, and for that, God's hand was in it--I believe. What is wrong with that opinion? It bothers you on a deep level--to what I cannot discern. If it didn't, you would not be posting to me back and forth.

Please tell me exactly what bothers you about the case that Britain had a role in the creation of modern day Israel. That is all I said--and you have a problem with it.

Thanks.

Anyone know where I can read a transcript of Rush's answer to that guy who asked him how we can defeat muslim terrorism? I think it was about mid way into the second hour.

I found his comments right on the money and I'd love to read them.

Of course Britain had a role. Britain is responsible for the Balfour Declaration. Everything that Britain did since that time was an attempt to minimize or negate the effect of the Balfour Declaration.

When Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire, Theodore Herzl, widely known as the father of modern Zionism, met with the Kaiser in Jerusalem in order to convince him to take over responsibility for Palestine, because he believed that Germany would always be a friend of the Jewish people.

In 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Aragon and Castille expelled the Jews from Spain. The reason that they had Jews to expel is that for centuries Spain had welcomed Jews and treated them very hospitably.

The fact that Herzl was so enthralled by the Kaiser does not change the fact that the Nazis tried to kill all of the Jews they could reach. The fact that for centuries Spain welcomed Jews with open arms does not mean that they were were not brutally expelled in 1492. Similarly, the fact that the British released the Balfour Declaration does not negate the fact that virtually from that date forward the British government did everything in its power to negate its effect and prevent the re-establishment of the Jewish homeland in Palestine.

If you have a problem with this fact, that is something that you need to work out on your own. The facts are what they are.

OK so far.

When Palestine was part of the Ottoman Empire, Theodore Herzl, widely known as the father of modern Zionism, met with the Kaiser in Jerusalem in order to convince him to take over responsibility for Palestine, because he believed that Germany would always be a friend of the Jewish people.

Theodor Herzl was an Austrian/Jewish journalist. I thought we were discussing the British.

Hello?

In 1492, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella of Aragon and Castille expelled the Jews from Spain. ....

It was a Dark and Storm night in Spain....and this has as much to due with the price of tea in China as the propery tax of Lithuanian roof shingles imported to Chicago as the British as....?

If you are trying to hang the sins of the British for marrying into the European royal family, then I suppose we can hang Global Warming, Property Taxes, and Capital Punishmentment to the mix here as well. This is an interesting argument you are building. Would you like to add a Right Wing Conspiracy while we are at it?

The fact that Herzl (an Austrian) was so enthralled by the Kaiser (a German---OK) does not change the fact that the Nazis (all right then...now the Nazis....) tried to kill all of the Jews they could reach.... ....

....

Good grief.

I thought we were talking about the Balfour Declaration and the British....or where did you get lost? Let's face some facts. You have issues. I have not heard such a multinational and disjointed blame game since Osama Bin Laden blamed the US.

Good day.

You know, the thing is, that there are, I am sure, thousands of them that are "normal" and just practice their religion. I mean, we have radical people here too, but we don't kill people in the name of alah! How do you deal with that mentality? It's sad to say, but it will take most likely another generation and a lot of people to be needlessly killed before it ever settles down.

Even the "normal" ones have a problem with this country.

They do not like us.
And they hate our culture.
