Maybe I've been living in a hole but it's the first time I've seen a city-specific alert elevation rather than the whole country.
It's been done that way before. There was the threat to Newark and other cities.
I thought NYC is always under orange At least they were for a long time following 9/11, and I never read that the threat level was lowered.
DC has been raised to orange before.
NYC remains on an elevated orange alert level and has since 911. It has never been lowered.
