The anti-union forces tried to pass the same thing against unions (Prop 226) in the late '90's, and it was crushed. This is just another cynical attempt to weaken unions further, and leave the entire political contribution playing field to corporate interests. Unions would be thrilled to refrain from spending this kind of political money if businesses and other anti-union elements did the same. They outspend unions 10 to 1 or more. Why should the interests of working people be silenced? That is the aim of the proponents of this proposition.

So, the interests of "working people" are silenced by preventing unions from stealing their money and spending it on politics?

Nice try.

Why do government employees need unions, anyhow?
