Per Fox News...
A source. Likely. But a source for what when and why is the question.
Did Novak say it was somebody STILL in the administration at the time of the leak???
Novel spin, huh?
Nice summary of the conspiracy....I might add that as soon as the story broke these questions ran through my mind.
This proliferation buisiness was most definitely highly classified. Since Joe W hadn't worked for the US Gov't in a number of years, did he have an active security clearance? Were his Five years background updates performed?
What was the orginal classification of the Niger Memo since it came through back chamnnel sources? Did Joe's story disclose information from a Special Access Program?
Did this shadow gov't cell at CIA bypass normal security rules during their rush to judgement to get Joe Wilson on an airplane to Niger? Your summary shows that Plame suggested hubby Joe go on 2/12 and he was back by 2/19. Thats extremely quick to get authorization for and fund such a mission. What was the big rush?
Was he paid during this trip? Was he an employee of the US Gov't at the time? Was he an official representative of the US Gov't? Local embassy personnel couldn't handle this?
There are five Uranium producing countries in Africa, Why did the Shadow cell cherry pick Niger to debunk the Presidents sixteen words?
Something smells about this...I hope the investigation takes a 90 degree turn and investigates these matters.
Ditto!
I would personally like for it to be Joe Wilson and I would LOVE for his punishment to be being horsewhipped at high noon on the Mall in D.C.
I know I'd drive up there for that.
It's my understanding that Novak said it was someone that was no longer with with/in the Bush Admin
'Wash Post' Wonders if Leaker of Plame's Identity Was a Reporter
They are backpeddling. Something significant happened last night that changed the cosmetics today. We probably won't know for awhile. The Rove blame game is up so they have to regroup.
According to Bill Sammons on with Brit Hume, he thinks it's a travesty that Time capitulated, and that now "sources" will no longer trust the reporter if their employer can force the source issue ..he's said it's already had a chilling effect in his newsroom on getting high-placed source info .. even as of today. Fred disagreed.
UGH...names flying all over the place...question, will we ever know who leaked? If so, do you think we'll know soon? Cause all this talk is driving me nuts not knowing who the leaky leaker is!!!
Novak just said Senior Administration official; I'd think if the person had retired or left he's say "former".
And he said the person didn't have a political bone to pick. That sure as heck isn't Rove. He's 100% political. LOL
So are you saying this person might be a republican? Doesn't sound right...NO RAT would do time as a jail bird for a pub...NO WAY NO HOW!! I just can't see it happening!
I do know that Wilson was an AMBASSADOR to three African countries. Whether ambassadors have security clearance I don't know.
All in all, this is about way more than silly Joe Wilson. There were shenanigans going on that greatly affected our national security.
That forgery memo is interesting. It was a poison pill, I'm sure of it. But who planted it? A Saddam sympathizer?
As for it being a non-story, as some purport, it's not. We can't have a big newspaper and a political party creating some drama and manipulating the public perception. Then THEY demanded a special counsel but they didn't expect anyone would follow through.
And all the money spent on this little concocted drama. Taxpayer money. All for Joe Wilson who sold his soul to the devil.
The Dems wanted to win an election, Saddam's weapons of mass destruction be damned.
I agree with the WAPO. REPORTERS were likely the source of the leak. Specifically NY Times reporters. It was pre-planned. No one would read a book about a guy going to Niger. But six months for a hotly contested presidential election a book about a whistle blower being persecuted by the sitting administration would hit the best-seller.
Wilson sold a couple of million of books and that was the plan.
Wilson got his Judas gold; the Dems had an election year issue.
And if Rove took a hike because of it, that was icing on the cake.
I can't get over those two reporters on MSNBC with Mitchell. The one guy says something like "not all reporters are honest like you and I, Mike."
This to ISIKOFF! of NEWSWEAK! Who just had to backtrack on a major story.
What planet are these people living on. The MSM wants to be a clubby little group of folks who know what's best for us. They invent constitutional privelages that don't exist.
This is such a joke. BUT there's something deeper to it.
I don't know what it is.
Am I saying it might be a Republican? No. I'm repeating what Novak said.
Unless they are actually getting smarter.........can't be.
I'm with you! We should have a Freeper Section.
There is more than the mention of a pseudo-undercover CIA name here. The more screeching the Left & the MSM do, the more it points to one of them.
Rove releasing them from confidentiality agreements makes it more improbable that they would cover for him.
How many people would buy the Left/Dems/MSM covering for anyone in the Bush Administration? [chirping crickets]
absolutely right about 7/2003 - the white house should never have backed off the Niger claim until the method by which the forgeries were placed into the intel stream became clear. I remember listening to Loftus on the John Batchelor show right after they surfaced - and he said right away, "the French planted them as a poison pill". But that part of the story was never pursued.
I'm certain that Ambassadors must have high level clearances. Joe's biography states that he stopped working for the Gov't in 1998. Background investigations are required every 5 years, I wonder if he did have a valid clearance before embarking on this crucial proliferation issue?
It's a question no one in the media has asked?
I agree with you. The Dems got their money's worth out of this chirade, with the media carrying the ball for them!
