It is called strategery.

T.R. said "walk softly and carry a big stick"

Kennedy, loud noise; Shummer, loud noise; moveon.org, loud noise and dems in general are screaming about any nominee.

Bush, who by the way has not named anyone yet, says be nice. He then hires Fred Thompson to ram rod through his unnamed nominee.

It is the moral equivalent of politely asking the burglar to leave while jacking a round into a 12 bore.

I sent the Prez a note on the SSHHHH statement he made. Still, I like the Thompson appointment to shepherd the conservtive that I believe the Prez will nominate. I hope it is Luttig, Roberts, or Garza but Jones, Alito will satisfy me too. A RINO type will not. If the Prez does have a Scalia type in mind, his choice will be solid. If not, 2006-2008 will see many rightists stay at home and that would be sad because the lefty Dems will benefit from a stay at home election for House and Senate candidates. That would be the real disaster. To lose the Houses because the Prez acted like his father on a court nomination. Yikes.

My favorite comment is one I heard from Fat Teddy yesterday to the effect that the President was abusing his power.

How?

Why, by exercising his privilege and duty to nominate judges!

"Okay this idea is nuts, but I think it would be fun. The President should nominate the most left wing judge to fill the vacancy. Someone from the 9th circuit who has a 90percent overturn rate on appeal. What would happen to the claim of wanting a mainstream candidate. There'd be no chance of the guy getting confirmed but it would be fun to see how the Schumers and Teddies would react."

One who smokes dope and is openly gay also.

LOL!

I know some folks are kinda nervous about all this, and there's reason for concern. But I think in the end the president won't let us down.

In the meantime, It's going to be fun to watch the dems make total fools out of themselves. ;)

What's that old saw, about chips not falling far from the old brick?

The White House is beginning to look like John Kerry won after all.

Are you kidding? If Kerry'd won, we'd be looking at Newsweek covers of Kerry's nominee, Lani Guiniere.

Or worse, Slick himself.

Good one. My point was weakness as in Kerry weakness. I was writing figuratively, not literally.

Thanks for the note!

[ W should nominate Ann Coulter - just think how much fun the Senate confirmation hearings will be!!! ]

Now theres some sound logic.. if she would go for it..
She wouldnt get OK'd but the reparte' would be delicious..
And the next candidate would seem moderate.. in comparision..

Ann of course is very very moderate.. its the leftys that are immoderate..
"Nothing too extreme can be said about liberals because it's all true." -Ann Coulter

The Culture War that has been going on in this country for years and years is about to reach its apogee. This nomination is going to be the mother of all judicial battles, and we're going to find out once and for all who really controls our government. I'm afraid I think I already know which side is going to buckle.
