I get the impression that Mark Felt knew Gray's days were numbered and wanted him to hear the admission personally. Twist the knife one more time, if you will.
Louis P. Gray was also counsel for the captain of the Skylark, the surface tender for the Thresher when it made its last dive.
Really! I remember the Thresher sub disaster in 1963. Just 200 miles or so from Boston on a test dive, out of Portsmouth Navy Yard.
